NTT DATA is currently looking for a Hardware Solution Engineer (f/m/d) for our growing team in Germany.

Responsibilities and duties
  • Serve as the main point of contact for the customer in the Hardware Solution Build area, addressing inquiries, concerns, and requests in a timely and professional manner.
  • Packaging & Deployment: Linux packaging (RPM/DEB) and Windows deployment (SCCM)
  • Evaluating Hardware components with suppliers
  • Firmware & Driver Management
    • Assess Firmware versions
    • Define and test bi-annual firmware/driver baselines with vendors
    • Validate updates in the Lab and update reference builds
    • Prioritize and plan urgent upgrades
  • 3rd Level Support & Vendor Escalation
    • Triage firmware/driver issues, open cases with hardware manufacturers
    • Develop workarounds, capture traces and verify fixes.
  • Tool Integration & Automation
    • Integrate vendor monitoring/reporting tools and write automation scripts.
  • Documentation & Meetings
    • Record every server model and variant in the CMDB with full specs
    • Keep internal tools up to date with new hardware entries
    • Should take part in Meetings (with Vendors and customers) to coordinate on any HW topics
  • Lab & Asset Management
    • Manage lab hardware lifecycle- procurement, wiring, repairs and bookings
    • Maintain an accurate occupancy system and CI records
    • Keep tools current - test, update and adapt them regularly.
Role requirements
Must have:
  • Proven experience in a technical customer service role with a strong track record of achieving high customer satisfaction
  • Excellent understanding of hardware Topics
  • Strong in technical demand and inventory management
  • Familiar with Linux/Unix and Windows environment
  • Packaging/Deployment experience (Linux: RPM/DEB, Windows: SCCM/MECM)
  • Experience in working on Hardware topics including vendor support
  • Strong knowledge of Server hardware
  • Expertise inBIOS, RAID controller and iLO/DRAC/IMM
  • Data Center knowledge
  • Fluent in both German and English, written and spoken
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to empathize and connect directly with the customer
  • Ability to identify customer needs and provide proactive solutions.
  • Strong problem solving skills, with an emphasis on quick and effective resolution.
Desirable:
  • Reporting: includes Hardware lifecycle, inventory etc.
  • Various Vendors Server knowledge
Work location:
This position is mainly remote and requires you to travel to the customer's IT Lab in Munich regularly once a week for half a day.
