We are looking for a Group Finance Director based in Germany. Reporting to the Group Leader, this role leads and manages all financial aspects for a Group of currently 5 businesses, with a current total turnover in the +$100m range.
Job Description:
The Group Finance Director will have 3 key areas of focus:
- Act as the Business Partner to the Group Leader, ensuring strong financial performance in the Businesses, providing detailed financial analysis and advice for continual improvement and strategic direction.
- Ensure control and compliance across the Group with all reporting, forecasting, control and audit requirements from the Portfolio, developing best practices in the businesses, including leading system implementations.
- Support the Group Leader on acquisitions and integration of acquisitions, aiming to work on (+/-) 4 acquisitions per year.
The Group Leadership Team is responsible for promoting and enabling Operational Excellence. As a key member of this select Group Leadership team, you will actively participate in supporting the Group as it builds its strategy and expands. While the Group continues to grow, both organically and via acquisitions, you will lead in building a Finance structure that can scale and grow alongside the business. You will share a passion for developing talent with a focus on building sustained long-term growth and creating a fantastic place to work. You will work closely with the Finance teams of each business.
Business Partnering and Management
- Lead the monthly and quarterly financial review process (QSR) and annual strategic reviews. Proactively engage with the businesses to understand deviations, challenge business assumptions and provide advice on improvements.
- Provide strategic financial leadership to the businesses. Recommend and lead efforts to improve ROIC, working capital and growth performance.
- Evaluate and challenge Project Bids, assessing pricing, market positioning and risks. Ensure compliance with Portfolio processes and parameters.
- Build data models and trend analysis to assist the Group and Business Leaders in understanding key business drivers.
- Respond to the requirements of the Group Leader to ensure all necessary tools and data to manage the businesses are provided (monthly summary reports, etc.).
- Step into a non-performing business, review and execute an action plan with the Business Leader for turnaround.
- Develop and strengthen the finance organization across the Group, developing Finance talent.
- Setup structures and processes for the Group to successfully scale, ensuring control and governance elements are thoroughly followed by the businesses.
Finance & Reporting
- Oversee the accurate and timely monthly/quarterly financial reporting to ensure compliance of internal and external reporting with CSI requirements (IFRS).
- Ensure efficient processes are in place in each business.
- Drive the implementation of specific systems required by the Portfolio in each business (e.g., ERP systems) and encourage the adoption of other local tools and systems that drive efficiency and data analytics.
- Support internal and external audits and yearly statutory filings.
- Ensure compliance with the Risk Management processes and audit best practices.
- Stay abreast of trends and regulations to ensure effectiveness and compliance for the finance functions.
Acquisitions and Integrations
- Perform Financial Due Diligence on acquisition targets. Participate in commercial Due Diligence to assess business drivers and key metrics of the acquisition financial model.
- Assist in the completion of Investment Committee materials and presentations, aligning acquisition strategy and business goals.
- Oversee the integration team for all new acquisitions, ensuring adherence to accounting policies and financial system conversion where applicable.
- Own all post-acquisition deliverables including purchase price accounting and post-acquisition reviews.
Qualifications:
- Educated to University level (Master’s degree), ideally in Finance, Business, Economics or Technology.
- Approximately 7-10 years in finance and accounting.
- In-depth knowledge of accounting principles, practices, and applications in an international context.
- Acquisition transaction and integration experience highly desired.
- Experience within the Software industry is preferred.
- Strong analytical skills, detail-oriented.
- Strong presentation and communication skills.
- Fluent in English and German; an additional European language is an advantage.
- Energetic, highly proactive and results-oriented.
- A “can-do” attitude taking ownership; prepared to be held accountable for actions, behaviors and targets.
- Availability for international travel, primarily in Europe.
