We are currently seeking to employ a motivated and experienced Ground Segment Systems Engineer to support the ongoing development, integration, and operation of the ground segments for EUMETSAT’s Copernicus missions. You will join a multidisciplinary team working on Sentinel and expansion missions (e.g. CO2M, CRISTAL, CIMR), contributing to the system engineering lifecycle across design, verification, and operational phases..

What You´ll Do

You will contribute to one or more of the following areas:

  • Requirements Engineering
    • Maintain and evolve requirements in DOORS for both operational and new missions.
    • Ensure traceability between mission, system, segment, and facility requirements.
    • Support change control and configuration management activities.
  • System and Interface Design
    • Contribute to the design and documentation of ground segment architecture and interfaces.
    • Prepare or review Engineering Change Proposals (ECPs/ECRs) and associated technical notes.
    • Use MBSE tools and methods (e.g. SysML, Enterprise Architect).
  • Integration, Verification & Validation
    • Develop or review test plans, procedures, and reports.
    • Support formal reviews, system integration, and verification activities.
  • Operations Support
    • Maintain technical baselines and documentation for operational missions.
    • Participate in anomaly investigations, CRBs/ARBs, and operational validation campaigns.
    • Support performance analysis, operational tool development, and inter-organizational coordination.
  • Project and Service Coordination
    • Participate in planning, reporting, and coordination meetings with EUMETSAT.
    • Support quality assurance and compliance with service level targets.
    • Contribute to internal knowledge sharing and process improvement.
What We Are Looking For

  • University degree in Aerospace Engineering, Physics, or a related technical
  • At least 3 years of experience in ground segment system engineering or IV&V for EO or space systems.
  • Proficient in requirements management and traceability (preferably with DOORS).
  • Familiarity with ECSS standards and system engineering processes.
  • Experience in interface definition and documentation.
  • Ability to work in a structured and documentation-driven environment.
  • Fluent English (spoken and written).
  • The following skills and experience would be highly desirable:
    • Experience with MBSE tools (e.g. Enterprise Architect).
    • Knowledge of EUMETSAT systems and operational environment.
    • Hands-on experience with test and validation processes (FAT, OSAT, VCDs).
    • Familiarity with mission control, data processing, or dissemination systems.
