The Office of Press and Public Relations is looking for a Head of Department (m / f / d) for the "Technology" area in the "Online Communication" department from July 1, 2025!

Responsibilities:
- Manage the "Technology" department with currently five employees and are responsible for occupational health and safety matters in the area of responsibility.
- Design, create, develop and manage web applications for interfaces to the Imperia web content management system or from the Imperia system to web applications, modules and templates for Imperia.
- Ensure quality assurance of the front- and backend developments of stadt.koeln, integrate innovative technologies and evaluate new web and mobile technologies for stadt.koeln.
- Take on project management of IT projects, including project planning and conception of structures and the layout for online applications, and provide technical advice to city leadership and departments.
- Support and advise departments on the professional provision of textual, visual, animated or audio content on stadt.koeln and external websites.
- Assume the role of deputy head of the online editorial department.
- Participate in work assignments outside the usual framework for special events and/or functions (e.g. elections, large-scale operations, major events).
Your active support as a special functionary in the implementation of elections and the motivation of your employees to take on such a function is requested. This applies to a maximum of 3 days per election, which will be rewarded with special leave and an expense allowance.
Your Profile:
- A successfully completed university degree (at least a Bachelor's degree or FH diploma) in media informatics, business informatics, media sciences, economic sciences, administrative sciences, or Public Administration/Management.
- Alternatively, you have successfully completed administrative course two (formerly employee course two) as a tariff employee or as a civil servant with the qualification for career group 2, 1st entry level of the non-technical administrative service.
What else matters to us:
- Sound knowledge and experience in web applications, content management systems and website administration.
- In-depth specialist knowledge of the structure and programming of the Imperia content management system (CMS) or a comparable CMS.
- Knowledge and experience of working with Git, frameworks, responsive design, Linux, databases, API, AI and web servers.
- Several years of experience in editorial and public relations work with in-depth specialist knowledge of online topics.
- Willingness to learn and perform, analytical skills, flexibility in finding solutions.
- Strong argumentation and conflict resolution skills, cooperation skills, especially service and service orientation.
- Gender competence and a commitment to diversity, work-life balance, and the effective advancement of women.
Desirable:
- Knowledge and experience in software architecture, project management, and media management.
- Experience in leading teams or groups.

The position is valued according to pay group 12 TVöD or salary group A 12 career group 2, 1st entry level LBesG NRW. The weekly working time is 39 hours (tariff employees) or 41 hours (civil servants). Part-time and full-time employment is possible.
