As a Senior Preconstruction Manager, you will be part of the Design and Construction team within AMZ Global Engineering services, shaping the future of the Construction Industry. We focus on safety, people, and sustainability, delivering high-quality buildings and capacity to meet customer needs.

This role offers the opportunity to travel and work in multiple countries; approximately 30% of your time will be spent traveling within Europe and to other EMEA countries.

Key job responsibilities

1. Manage complex, cross-functional industrial projects from site selection through design completion, permitting, and contract execution, coordinating with design teams and stakeholders.
2. Maintain scope control and accelerate progress through timely decisions, clearing blockers, and escalation when necessary.
3. Communicate effectively with internal and external teams, weigh risks, influence outcomes, and drive results.
4. Oversee professional service providers to ensure skills and competencies meet project needs.
5. Perform pricing reviews, negotiate costs with developers, contractors, and consultants.
6. Estimate costs, manage due diligence, schedule tracking, and forecasting to ensure successful project hand-over.
7. Supervise the implementation of Amazon's safety standards.
8. Drive accountability and high standards among team members.
9. Negotiate with contractors, vendors, and suppliers.

Basic qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Architecture, Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field, with solid experience in project management roles.
• Experience from design to operation, including negotiations of contracts.
• Experience in packaging processing/logistics facilities or similar.
• Fluency in German and English.
• Willingness to travel frequently across Europe, up to 30% of the time.

Preferred qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering, mechanical, operations, supply chain, or business administration.
• Experience in multiple disciplines within the construction industry.
• Proven ability in planning, design review, and project management of new and existing facilities.
• Experience with industrial automation, robotics, or similar technologies.
• Strong influencing and negotiation skills.
• Excellent communication skills for diverse audiences.
• Knowledge of Building Information Modelling (BIM).
• Participation in previous Amazon FC launches is a plus.
• Additional language skills such as French, Polish, or Arabic are preferred.

Each day, you will ensure on-time, within-budget execution of Amazon construction projects, lead and mentor cross-functional teams, and communicate effectively across all levels of the organization. Your responsibilities will include contract negotiations, site validation, due diligence, design management, stakeholder management, and compliance with zoning, fire, and building codes. You will act as the primary escalation point for project issues, owning and tracking resolutions to ensure project success.
