As a Senior Preconstruction Manager, you will be part of the Design and Construction team within AMZ Global Engineering services, shaping the future of the Construction Industry. We focus on safety, people, and sustainability, delivering high-quality buildings and capacity to meet customer needs.

The role offers opportunities to travel and work across multiple countries and cultures, with approximately 30% travel within Europe and to other EMEA countries.

Key job responsibilities

1. Manage complex, cross-functional industrial projects from site selection through design, permitting, and contract execution, coordinating with design teams and stakeholders.
2. Maintain scope control and accelerate progress by making timely decisions, clearing blockers, and escalating issues when necessary.
3. Communicate effectively with internal and external parties, influence results, and manage risks.
4. Oversee professional service providers to ensure skills and competencies meet project needs.
5. Perform pricing reviews, negotiate costs with developers, contractors, and consultants.
6. Estimate costs, manage due diligence, schedule tracking, and forecasting to ensure successful project hand-over.
7. Supervise the implementation of Amazon's safety programs and standards.
8. Drive accountability and high standards among team members.
9. Negotiate with contractors, vendors, and suppliers.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor's degree in Architecture, Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field, with solid experience in project management roles.
• Experience managing projects from design to operation, including negotiating contracts.
• Experience with packaging processing/logistical facilities is a plus.
• Fluent in German and English.
• Willingness to travel frequently across Europe, up to 30% of the time.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor's in engineering, mechanical, operations, supply chain, business administration, or similar STEM field.
• Experience in multiple construction disciplines, including general contracting, owner’s representation, or engineering.
• Proven ability in planning, design review, and project management of new and existing facilities.
• Experience with industrial automation and robotics integration.
• Strong influencing and negotiation skills.
• Excellent communication skills across various audiences.
• Knowledge of Building Information Modelling (BIM).
• Participation in previous Amazon FC launches is desirable.
• Languages such as French, Polish, or Arabic are considered a plus.

A day in the life

You will oversee Amazon’s construction projects, ensure on-time and on-budget delivery, improve processes, and lead cross-functional teams. Your daily tasks include site validation, due diligence, design management, contract negotiations, stakeholder management, and compliance with zoning and building codes. You will serve as the primary escalation point for project issues and communicate effectively with all levels of management.
