Are you eager to be part of a team responsible for developing, designing, and constructing innovative logistics projects across EMEA countries? As a Senior Preconstruction Manager, you will join the Design and Construction (D&C) team within Amazon Global Engineering Services (GESS), shaping the future of the construction industry by pushing the boundaries of possibility, driving innovative, standardized, and scalable solutions while prioritizing safety, people, and sustainability.

This role offers opportunities to travel and work across multiple countries and cultures, with approximately 30% travel within Europe and to other EMEA regions. The position can be based anywhere in Europe.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Manage complex, cross-functional industrial projects from site selection to design completion, permitting, and contract execution, ensuring effective coordination with design teams and stakeholders.
2. Maintain scope control, drive timely decisions, identify and resolve blockers, and escalate issues as needed.
3. Communicate effectively with internal and external teams, influence outcomes, and manage risks.
4. Oversee professional service providers, ensuring their skills meet project needs.
5. Perform pricing reviews, negotiate costs with developers, contractors, and consultants.
6. Estimate costs, manage due diligence, track schedules, and forecast project timelines.
7. Supervise implementation of Amazon's safety programs and standards.
8. Set high standards for self and others, driving accountability and results.
9. Negotiate with contractors, vendors, and suppliers.

Basic Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Architecture, Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field, with proven experience in project management within construction or development disciplines.
• Experience managing projects from design to operation, including negotiating contracts.
• Experience with packaging processing/logistics facilities or similar complex equipment projects.
• Fluent in German and English.
• Willingness to travel frequently across Europe.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in engineering, mechanical, operations, supply chain, or business administration.
• Experience in multiple construction disciplines such as general contracting, owner’s representation, or engineering.
• Proven ability in planning, design review, and project control of new and existing facilities.
• Experience with industrial automation and robotics projects.
• Strong influencing and negotiation skills.
• Excellent communication skills across various audiences.
• Knowledge of Building Information Modelling (BIM).
• Previous participation in Amazon FC launches is a plus.
• Additional language skills such as French, Polish, or Arabic are advantageous.

A Day in the Life:

You will oversee Amazon's construction projects, ensuring they are completed on time and within budget, while continuously improving processes, costs, quality, health & safety, and sustainability. You will lead and mentor cross-functional teams, communicate across departments, and serve as an authority on project issues. Your responsibilities include contract negotiations, site validation, due diligence, risk analysis, design management, and stakeholder engagement. You will coordinate with zoning, fire, and building code authorities, and manage project issues proactively to ensure successful project delivery. Excellent communication skills for engaging with both frontline staff and senior management are essential.
