As a Senior Preconstruction Manager, you will be part of the Design and Construction team (D&C) within Amazon Global Engineering services (GESS), with a vision to shape the future of the Construction Industry. We push the boundaries of possibility, driving innovative, standardized, and scalable solutions to deliver high-quality buildings and meet customer needs, with safety, people, and sustainability at the core.

The role offers opportunities to travel and work across multiple countries and cultures, with about 30% travel within Europe and EMEA.

Key responsibilities include:

1. Managing complex, cross-functional industrial projects from site selection to design completion, permitting, and contract execution, coordinating with design teams and stakeholders.
2. Controlling project scope, accelerating progress through timely decisions, clearing blockers, and escalating issues as needed.
3. Communicating effectively with internal and external teams, assessing risks, making decisions, and influencing outcomes.
4. Overseeing professional service providers to ensure their skills meet project requirements.
5. Performing pricing reviews, negotiating costs with developers, contractors, and consultants.
6. Estimating costs, managing due diligence, schedule tracking, and forecasting to ensure successful project hand-over.
7. Supervising the implementation of Amazon's safety programs and standards.
8. Driving accountability and high standards among team members.
9. Negotiating with contractors, vendors, and suppliers.

Basic qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Architecture, Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field, with relevant experience.
• Project management experience from design through operation, including contract negotiations.
• Experience in packaging processing/logistics facilities preferred.
• Fluent in German and English.
• Willingness to travel frequently across Europe.

Preferred qualifications:

• Bachelor's in engineering, operations, supply chain, or similar STEM field.
• Experience across multiple construction disciplines.
• Knowledge of BIM and experience in new FC launches at Amazon.
• Additional language skills (French, Polish, Arabic) are a plus.

Each day, you will ensure on-time, within-budget execution of Amazon construction projects, lead and mentor teams, and improve processes. You will engage in contract negotiations, site validation, risk analysis, design management, stakeholder engagement, and jurisdictional coordination. Excellent communication skills for engaging with all levels of management are essential.
