Are you eager to be part of a team responsible for developing, designing, and constructing innovative logistics projects across EMEA countries? As a Senior Preconstruction Manager, you will be part of the Design and Construction (D&C) team within Amazon Global Engineering Services (GESS), shaping the future of the construction industry with innovative, standardized, and scalable solutions that prioritize safety, people, and sustainability.

This role offers opportunities to travel and work across multiple countries and cultures. The position is based anywhere in Europe with approximately 30% travel within Europe and EMEA countries.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Manage complex, cross-functional industrial projects from site selection to design completion, permitting, and contract execution, coordinating with design teams and stakeholders.
2. Maintain scope control and accelerate progress by making timely decisions, clearing blockers, and escalating issues appropriately.
3. Communicate effectively with internal and external teams, influence results, and manage risks.
4. Oversee professional service providers to ensure skills and competencies meet project needs.
5. Perform pricing reviews, negotiate costs with developers, contractors, and consultants.
6. Estimate costs, manage due diligence, track schedules, and forecast project outcomes.
7. Supervise the implementation of Amazon's safety programs and standards.
8. Insist on high standards and drive accountability.
9. Negotiate with contractors, vendors, and suppliers.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

• Bachelor's degree in Architecture, Engineering, Construction Management, or related field with proven experience in project management, design, and construction.
• Experience managing projects from design to operation, including negotiating contracts.
• Experience in packaging processing/logistics facilities or similar.
• Fluent in German and English.
• Willingness to travel frequently across Europe.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• Bachelor's in engineering, mechanical, operations, supply chain, business administration, or STEM fields.
• Experience in multiple disciplines within the construction industry.
• Knowledge of BIM and experience with Amazon's FC launches.
• Additional language skills such as French, Polish, or Arabic are a plus.

A Day in the Life:

You will lead and mentor cross-functional teams, ensure project execution within time and budget, and improve processes. Your daily tasks include contract negotiations, site validation, risk analysis, stakeholder management, and compliance with local codes. You will serve as a primary point of escalation and influence team members to resolve issues efficiently. Excellent communication skills are essential for engaging with all levels of management and stakeholders.
