Job Overview

The United States Army Medical Materiel Center-Europe’s (USAMMCE) mission is to provide the best medical logistics support to the U.S. European Command. USAMMCE’s missions also include out-of-sector support to the Department of State Humanitarian Assistance Program, the U.S. Central Command in Southwest Asia, and AFRICOM.

The General Supply Specialist performs clerk duties and works in an office or mailroom, working with computers, bookkeeping, making, and recording inventories, telephone marketing, etc., and adheres to all regulatory requirements associated with office equipment care and use. The work also includes material handling duties of receiving, unpacking, preparing, packing/packaging, moving, relocating, positioning, and transporting medical equipment.

Education/Degree: High School Diploma or GED equivalent.

Certification: N/A

Experience:

  • Experience working with the U.S. military in a supply capacity is preferred but not required. Individuals with military background are given preference.
  • Experience working with Global Combat Support System- Army (GCSS-A) is preferred but not required.
  • Professional experience in a general office performing clerical/administrative duties including typing, filing, forwarding orders to outside vendors.
  • Experience maintaining logbooks or other automated records pertaining to the processing of incoming/outgoing shipments.
  • Experience presenting daily reports.

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Able to read, write, speak, and understand English.
  • Being able to speak and read German is preferred but not required.
  • Able to pass a background check.
  • Be computer literate.
  • Able to lift up to approximately 35 lbs. for short distances.

Responsibilities Include (but are not limited to):

  • Process incoming/outgoing medical device shipments, forward orders, make follow-ups, prepare forms, and make necessary postings to records.
  • Communicate via email, and telephone with manufacturers of multiple medical devices manufacturers and vendors for the purpose of repair of medical equipment.
  • Brief customers on the current status of equipment and other special requirements and provide information, i.e. processing time, and capacity of the transportation section.
  • Maintain office files in accordance with applicable regulatory guidance.
  • Maintain logbooks and perform updates as needed.
  • Attend training, meetings, conferences, etc. as required by US Army Medical Center Europe.
