We are seeking local-based General Mechanical Inspectors on a freelance basis in the greater areas of Bayern, Nordrhein-Westfalen, Hessen for ad hoc inspections at local manufacturers.

1. Scope:

Ensure all inspection assignments are performed competently and timely, following received instructions.

2. Stakeholders:

• Internal: Operations Manager, Coordinators, Technical Manager
• External: Suppliers, Clients

3. Tasks (daily, weekly, monthly, yearly):

• Review assignment instructions for adequacy and practicality.
• Attend pre-production and other relevant meetings.
• Coordinate with clients and relevant parties to determine inspection stages and requirements.
• Inspect drawings, designs, and specifications for piping, valves, pressure vessels, and other mechanical equipment, ensuring customer requirements and procedures are followed.
• Visit manufacturers, suppliers, and installers to perform or witness inspections.
• Provide timely reports of inspections performed or witnessed.
• Ensure all inspection activities comply with Intertek work instructions and procedures.
• Utilize new technologies within Intertek, such as e-reporting, Remote Video Inspection System, and Evolution system.

4. Competences and Experience:

Minimum of 5 years employed by manufacturers or constructors of relevant products or materials, gaining knowledge of manufacturing and inspection processes. Educational qualifications can include:

• University degree
• National Higher Education
• Chartered Engineer or equivalent

If qualifications are absent, experience should be extended to 10 years.

• Valid Driver’s License
• English language proficiency

Preferred qualifications for mechanical inspection include:

• European Welding Engineer or equivalent (CSWIP / CWI / AWS)
• ISO 9712 or ASNT certifications
• NACE CIP Level 2 or FROSIO
• ISO 9001 Internal or Lead Auditor

Occupational Health, Safety, and Environment:

Be familiar with company policies regarding OHSAS and environmental regulations. Ensure implementation of policies and procedures, investigate incidents, and adhere to site-specific health, safety, and environmental policies.
