Reports to : SVP, International Commercial

Company : [Confidential] – US-Headquartered Rare Disease Biotech

About the Company

We are a US-headquartered, innovation-driven biotech company focused on developing and delivering transformative therapies for rare diseases. Following the successful launch of our first commercial asset across key international markets, we are preparing for the launch of our second asset within the next 24 months. With deep commitment to patient communities and high unmet medical need, we are entering a critical growth phase in Europe.

To support this momentum, we are seeking a strategic and entrepreneurial General Manager for the DACH region, who will build on early commercial success, ensure continued excellence in execution, and lead the cross-functional team into our next phase of growth.

Position Summary

The General Manager (GM) DACH will be responsible for the full P&L, strategic leadership, and operational oversight of our DACH region. The initial foundation of the regional commercial organization has been established; the GM will now focus on strengthening the performance of our first launched asset while laying the groundwork for a successful future launch.

This is a high-impact leadership role suited for a dynamic, hands-on biotech leader with experience in rare diseases, a deep understanding of the German healthcare system, and the ability to drive results in an evolving, resource-lean environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Strategic Leadership : Drive the regional strategy for Germany, Austria, and Switzerland, aligned with global and international commercial goals.
  • Asset Performance : Ensure strong, sustained commercial performance of the first launched product through deep market engagement, customer focus, and operational excellence.
  • Launch Readiness : Lead early planning and strategic readiness for the second asset, including market shaping, access, medical education, and team capability planning.
  • Cross-Functional Leadership : Inspire, manage, and develop a high-performing cross-functional team across commercial, market access, medical affairs, and operations.
  • Market Access & Policy : Represent the company in pricing, reimbursement, and policy discussions with local authorities, aligning with global market access strategy.
  • External Engagement : Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders including HCPs, patient advocacy groups, healthcare authorities, and KOLs.
  • Culture & Governance : Foster a culture of integrity, patient focus, agility, and performance. Ensure full compliance with local regulations and corporate policies.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Proven leadership experience (GM, Country Manager, or Business Unit Head) within a rare disease or specialty biotech environment.
  • Deep knowledge of the German healthcare ecosystem, pricing & reimbursement pathways, and regulatory environment.
  • Demonstrated success in both in-line product management and pre-launch / launch activities.
  • Track record of cross-functional leadership, with an ability to influence globally and across matrix structures.
  • Strong business acumen, strategic thinking, and executional excellence.
  • Fluent in German and English (written and spoken).
  • Advanced degree in life sciences, medicine, business, or related discipline preferred.
