Job Description:

Mission Title: Gelato Server
Status: 10-40 hours a week (your preference) (can be hired now to start in August if you like)
Location: Old Port Store in Portland, Maine
Target Pay: $17-20/hr + tips (based on skills and experience)

Do you love gelato or coffee? Are you outgoing? Do you enjoy connecting with customers and exceeding their expectations? Read on. We’re seeking service team members to offer gelato samples and recommendations, scoop dishes, set up and take down gelato displays, meticulously clean at every opportunity, and, most importantly, brighten customers’ days. You’ll be responsible for all aspects of the front of our store, with a constant focus on making a memorable, high-quality experience for customers.

Employees may cross-train to serve at our summertime Gelato Truck on the Eastern Prom or at catering events, if interested.

Minimum requirements:
- One year of customer service experience preferred, but not required. A desire to work diligently in a fast-paced environment and unshakable attention to customers’ needs is what we seek most.
- Be kind at all times. Show poise, presence, and professionalism.
- Must have a team-oriented mindset. Trust us.
- Being “coachable” is absolutely required.
- Must be a warm, friendly, and confident communicator.
- 18+ years preferred due to scheduling complexity, but skilled and enthusiastic 16-17 year-old applicants can be considered.

Skills/abilities required:
- Desire to scoop dishes, cones, and pints of the highest quality gelato and sorbetto with attention to detail.
- Ability to communicate calmly and effectively with co-workers and customers in a fast-paced environment.
- Devotion to delighting customers with engaged hospitality.
- Fully participation in the theater of our work, understanding how your actions and appearance "on stage" contribute to the experience of our customers.
- Ability to quickly learn the ways of customer service at Gelato Fiasco.
- People who might be compulsive about cleaning are encouraged to apply.
