Here at The Exploration Company, we are developing, producing, and operating Nyx, a modular and reusable space orbital vehicle that can eventually be refuelled in orbit and that can carry cargo - and potentially humans in the longer run.

We want you as a talented and experienced Functional Platforms Assembly, Integration and Verification (AIV) Senior Engineerto help us in our mission by closing the system-level verifications done on the functional platforms (Software in the Loop Platform, Processor in the Loop Platform, Hardware in the Loop Platform, Functional Simulation Facility) through defining, preparing and driving the associated system-level test campaigns.

Key Responsibilities

In your capacity as Functional Platforms AIV Senior Engineer, your role will continuously evolve, but initially your day-to-day duties will include:

  • Ensure the definition and implementation of the Nyx Earth system functional software and hardware integration and verification activities, which meets technical and programmatic requirements and considers the adequacy of model philosophy, facilities availability, planning and costing.

  • Define test plans and specifications with clear Success Criteria and support the generation of test procedures with the Functional Platform team.

  • Drive the preparation, organisation and execution of the spacecraft functional platforms system test campaigns (Processor Software, Processor, and Hardware in the Loop Platforms, Functional Simulation Facility), to ensure the closure of all system verification aspects, including nominal and off-nominal spacecraft behaviors.

  • Organise the different test reviews such as Test Readiness Review, Post Test Review and Test Review Board.

  • Generate test reports and drive the closure of the Items for Verification and Validation covered by the test campaign.

  • Collaborate with all Functional Chain responsible and engineering disciplines to prepare and perform the tests.

  • Process the anomalies occurring during the test campaign in coordination with the Product Assurance Team and the rest of the Engineering Team.

What we would love to see from you

In the role of Functional Platforms AIV Senior Engineer ideally, you will have the following:

  • Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or another related field.

  • 5 to 10 years of experience in systems design, analysis, and testing of aerospace or space-related systems, with a focus on hardware in the loop, flat-sat or functional simulation testing.

  • Hands-on hardware experience.

  • Practical experience / contact with functional test platforms, such as software in the loop, hardware in the loop, and bench testing.

  • Experience in the development and verification of space hardware.

  • Spacecraft systems knowledge, with a focus on flight software, avionics, and guidance, navigation, and control.
