Bei VREY bringen wir endlich Solarenergie in die über 3 Millionen Mehrfamilienhäuser in Deutschland, indem wir das Energy OS für Mehrfamilienhäuser bauen. Wir unterstützen Eigentümer von Mehrfamilienhäusern als Umsetzungspartner und Softwareanbieter für das neue Modell der „gemeinschaftlichen Gebäudeversorgung“, welches durch das Solarpaket 1 der Bundesregierung in 2024 möglich geworden ist.

Unser Ziel: Photovoltaikanlagen (PV) wirtschaftlich attraktiv und unkompliziert zu machen. Zukünftige Produktentwicklungen werden es ermöglichen, neben der Solaranlage, auch Batteriespeicher, Wärmepumpen und EV-Wallboxen in Mehrfamilienhäusern unkompliziert zu betreiben.

We support property owners as implementation partners and software providers for the new model of "shared building supply," made possible by the German government's “Solarpaket 1” in 2024.

Our mission is to make photovoltaic systems (PV) economically attractive and easy to implement. Future product developments will also seamlessly integrate battery storage, heat pumps, and EV wallboxes into multi-family buildings.

Tasks

Als Full-Stack Software Engineer wirst du Teil unseres sich im Aufbau befindenden Produktentwicklungsteams und arbeitest eng mit dem erfahrenen Head of Engineering zusammen. Du wirst mit allen Bereichen unserer Software zu tun haben (Backend, Frontend, Datenbank, Datenimport, Infrastruktur, …) und sie aktiv weiterentwickeln und gestalten.

Die Kernfunktion der VREY-Plattform ist die Verarbeitung der Smart Meter-Messdaten zur Analyse und Abrechnung der Solarstromnutzung. Dafür stellen wir Vermietern und Mietern ein Portal zur Verfügung und automatisieren im Hintergrund Rechnungstellung und Zahlungsflüsse. Mit unserem Admin-Bereich ermöglichen wir das Anlegen und Verwalten der Projekte. Auf der Roadmap stehen Projekte wie Mobile Apps für Mieter und Installateure oder eine intelligente Echtzeitsteuerung nach aktuellen Strompreisen.

Aktuell besteht der technische Stack hauptsächlich aus einer Ruby on Rails-App, die wir nach Bedarf um Frontend-Technologien (z.B. React) und Services erweitern werden. Für Zahlungen integrieren wir die Stripe API.

An diesen Themen wirst du arbeiten:

• Feature-Entwicklung: Als Teil unseres agilen Produktteams entwickelst und testest du neue Features über den gesamten Stack hinweg, ggf. auch in direkter Absprache mit Kollegen aus dem Business.


• Technische Konzeption: Zusammen mit dem Head of Engineering recherchierst und entwirfst du neue Lösungen für technische Herausforderungen.


• Performance-Optimierung und Überwachung von automatischen Prozessen: Ein zentraler Teil unserer Software-Lösung sind die automatisierung von Datenimports und Abrechnungsprozessen. Du unterstützt dabei, diese effizient und stabil aufzusetzen und zu betreiben.


• Infrastruktur: Du unterstützt bei der Auswahl und Umsetzung von Infrastruktur-Komponenten in der Cloud und auch beim reibungslosen Betrieb.

As a Full-Stack Software Engineer, you will be an early member of our growing product development team, working closely alongside our experienced Head of Engineering. You’ll learn about and contribute across the entire software stack (backend, frontend, database, data import, infrastructure, etc.) and actively shape the team and our platform.

The core functionality of the VREY platform is processing smart meter measurement data for analyzing and billing solar power usage. For this purpose, we provide landlords and tenants with a portal and automate billing and payment flows in the background. Through our admin interface, we enable the creation and management of projects. The roadmap includes projects such as mobile apps for tenants and installers, or intelligent real-time control based on short-term electricity prices.

Currently, the technical stack primarily consists of a Ruby on Rails app, which we will expand with frontend technologies (e.g., React) and services as needed. For payments, we integrate the Stripe API.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Feature Development: Collaborate within our agile product team to build and test new features across the stack — sometimes directly with business team members.


• Technical Design: Research and design technical solutions to new challenges together with the Head of Engineering.


• Performance Optimization and Process Automation: Our platform automates data imports and billing processes — you’ll help ensure these systems run efficiently and reliably.


• Infrastructure: Support infrastructure decisions and ensure smooth operation of cloud components.

Requirements

Qualifikation

• 2+ Jahre Erfahrung mit der Entwicklung von Full-Stack Web-Anwendungen, idealer Weise mit Ruby on Rails, sonst aber auch gerne mit vergleichbaren Technologien (z.B. Laravel/PHP, Django/Python, NodeJS/TypeScript, NextJS/ReactJS, Java/SpringBoot).


• Solide Kenntnisse und praktische Erfahrung im Design und der Optimierung von relationalen Datenbank-Modellen. (Wir nutzen PostgreSQL.)


• Gutes Verständis und praktische Erfahrungen mit verschiedenen Web-Architekturen und -Technologien wie JavaScript, React/Vue, REST APIs, HTML/CSS etc.


• Kenntnisse und praktische Erfahrungen mit Cloud-Infrastruktur, z.B. AWS, S3, CI/CD, Infrastructure as Code, Monitoring.

• Du hast Lust auf Startup, möchtest was bewegen, kannst auch eigenständig arbeiten, übernimmst von Anfang an Verantwortung und bist motiviert Neues zu lernen.

Your Profile

• 2+ years of experience building full-stack web applications, ideally with Ruby on Rails — alternatively with other technologies such as Laravel/PHP, Django/Python, NodeJS/TypeScript, NextJS/ReactJS, or Java/SpringBoot.


• Solid knowledge and hands-on experience designing and optimizing relational database models (we use PostgreSQL).


• Strong understanding of web architectures and technologies such as JavaScript, React/Vue, and REST APIs, HTML/CSS, etc.
