The Medical Faculty Mannheim of Heidelberg University offers the position of a

Full Professorship (W3) for Special Hematology (f/m/d)

to be filled again at the earliest possible date.

The post holder will represent the entire field of special hematology in research, teaching and patient care. Her/his field of work is going to be in the area of myeloid neoplasms or hematological high-risk diseases. The post holder will fulfill duties in patient care at the University Medical Center Mannheim as a consultant at the 3rd Medical Department.

In research, the W3 professorship for Special Hematology should actively contribute to the established research areas of the 3rd Medical Department with a focus on hematology and oncology, in particular the areas of “Myeloid Neoplasms”, “Preclinical Models in Hematology” and “Translational Leukemia Research” and strengthen the collaboration of the 3rd Medical Department with the cooperation partners at the German Cancer Research Center (DKFZ) Heidelberg. The post holder is expected to solicit third-party funded research projects and actively participate in the establishment of new collaborative research projects. As part of the MaReCuM model study program, the W3 professorship for Special Hematology is responsible for participating in teaching formats in the field of hematology and oncology, in particular with a focus on diseases of the blood and blood-forming organs.

Prerequisites for application are a completed university degree in medicine, a qualified doctorate and pedagogical aptitude, which is usually proven by experience in teaching, as well as additional scientific achievements (a habilitation, a successfully evaluated junior professorship or habilitation-equivalent qualifications) in accordance with Section 47 (2) of the Higher Education Law of the Federal State of Baden-Württemberg and recognition as a board-certified specialist in internal medicine and hematology and oncology. Internationally visible, excellent achievements in research, teaching and patient care, relevant management experience, successful acquisition of third-party funding and didactic competence are expected, as well as cooperation and leadership skills and commitment to academic self-administration.

The position is a tenured post. Professors who are responsible for patient care at a university hospital are generally employed under private law for an indefinite period in accordance with Section 49 (2a) of the Higher Education Law of the Federal State of Baden-Württemberg.
