Introduction

Carnival Maritime GmbH is part of Carnival Corporation and serves the brands of AIDA Cruises and Costa Crociere as their marine service unit. The company bundles marine operation competencies and best practices providing the highest safety, health, environmental and compliance standards for cruising. With the aspiration of achieving net carbon-neutral ship operations by 2050, Carnival Maritime has established a new center of excellence with a specific mandate to support the company by defining and executing the decarbonization strategy and its associated multidimensional technological challenges. Carnival Maritime enables the vessels of AIDA Cruises and Costa Crociere to meet current and future needs of the cruise industry through service and innovation.

Your Responsibilities

  • Building front end user-interfaces for energy management systems, ensuring high performance, reliability, and responsiveness
  • Developing reusable components and frontend libraries for future use
  • Optimizing application speed and scalability
  • Shaping a proper frontend architecture to ensure a well-structured and maintainable codebase
  • Supporting the team in design thinking to shape state-of-the-art interfaces
  • Please note that this position is limited to 2 years and requires presence in Hamburg office

Your Profile

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience)
  • 3+ years of experience in developing modern web applications using frameworks like React (preferred) or Vue.js
  • Strong expertise in frontend architecture and design patterns
  • Experience as a Front-end engineer in a data team (graphing, charting, interactivity applications)
  • Knowledge of data visualization libraries (e.g., D3.js, Chart.js) for enhanced user interfaces in a very mathematical domain
  • Experience in integrating and working with APIs (OpenAPI/Swagger)
  • Familiarity with Docker and containerization for deployment
  • Experience with UI/UX design principles and tools (e.g., Adobe XD, Figma), also with PostgreSQL is desirable
  • Python experience to understand our backend is a plus
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment
  • Italian language knowledge would be an advantage
  • Very good English language skills (English is our company language)
