Job Description:

Freelance Procurement Director - Pharmaceuticals - 12-Month Contract - Stuttgart

A global pharmaceutical company requires an experienced Procurement Director to lead the function on a major project.

Reporting to the Global Procurement Team, this individual will manage procurement for a highly complex CAPEX project, ensuring organizational alignment with global and local standards.

Responsibilities:

• Lead commercial evaluation and advise on incoming bids (EPCM, equipment, engineering suppliers).
• Align internally with stakeholders such as legal, SMEs, and finance.
• Act as escalation point for ongoing supplier issues.
• Support technical SMEs on commercial questions.
• Proactively identify and prevent delays to contractual milestones.
• Participate in project meetings, providing updates on document submissions.
• Communicate mitigations and improvements to relevant stakeholders.
• Review status reports, identify risks, and initiate mitigation actions.
• Visit suppliers and project sites regularly to assess progress.
• Report on procurement packages and activities.
• Manage RFQ processes, including strategy, tendering, evaluation, negotiation, and contracting.
• Lead and organize the procurement team using the project's RFQ tools.

Requirements:

• Proven ability to identify opportunities, influence decision-making, and exceed expectations.
• Experience with controllership, product costing, and data management.
• Proficiency in MS Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and SAP.
• Excellent communication, facilitation, and influencing skills.
• Strong project management capabilities.
• Organizational and analytical skills.
• Experience in project planning and execution.
• Knowledge of manufacturing business processes.
• Commercial acumen.
• Experience managing capital projects over $1 million.
• Degree in Procurement, Engineering, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, or related field, or relevant experience.
