Kuro is building the intelligence layer for the construction industry in Berlin. This role offers hands-on ownership to deliver production-ready AI automation for large enterprise customers.

You will work directly with stakeholders to understand their world, define end-to-end solutions, and ship them on Kuro’s platform within weeks. We value engineers and data scientists who thrive in fast-moving settings, enjoy customer exposure on-site, and are excited about applied AI.

Lea and Jonas scaled two of Europe's leading construction tech companies - Capmo and alcemy - and saw firsthand the challenges holding the industry back. Now they're tackling the root cause: the 50% of construction work still lost to manual data handling. Kuro is the the intelligent project data system for construction. We are 14 people based in Berlin. You will join a group of ex-technical founders and builders that are ambitious and kind.

The Opportunity

You'll own new AI automation use cases end-to-end - from understanding the customer's world to shipping production-ready solutions on Kuro's platform within weeks. This is not a pure backend role, and not classic consulting either. It's a high-ownership position where you work directly with enterprise stakeholders to build something real.

What You’ll Do

• Turn ambiguous customer problems into scoped, buildable solutions — then ship them
• Build with modern applied AI (LLMs, agentic workflows, vision models, embeddings, heuristics) to solve high-impact problems
• Design data pipelines for document ingestion, extraction, validation, and orchestration on top of Kuro's platform abstractions
• Identify recurring patterns across projects and codify them into reusable templates
• Balance speed, accuracy, and pragmatism — and know when to keep a human in the loop
• Help shape the technical direction of both the product and the company

As one of our first forward deployed engineering hires, you'll have significant influence on how we build, what we build, and how fast we move.

Past Projects You Would Have Been Part Of

Built a PoC that extracts quantities from unstructured documents, saving ~4 days of work per project.

• Subcontractor KYC automation

Developed an internal app to automate KYC checks, reducing manual effort by ~50%.

• LLM-based Bill of Quantities parsing

Created a parser that structures complex BoQs automatically, saving hours per day for procurement managers.

• Construction ontologies with enterprise customers

Co-developed interior and shell construction ontologies that power downstream AI automation.

It is still day 0 for Kuro. Therefore we are highly pragmatic with our tool choices. We believe in keeping it simple and moving quickly. You significantly help shape our tech stack decisions.

Your profile

This role is ideal for a hungry and talented software engineer or data scientist seeking close customer exposure in an early-stage company building a high-impact applied AI product. You enjoy taking ownership, moving fast, and building things end-to-end.

• Have 2+ years of experience as a software engineer or data scientist
• Thrive in ambiguous, fast-moving environments
• Are pragmatic and biased toward action
• Enjoy working directly with customers and like to visit them on site
• Are excited about applied AI, not just theory
• Can clearly explain trade-offs and decisions
• You are at least able to speak C1 german

Bonus Points

• Experience in early-stage startups or founding teams
• Prior experience with customer-facing roles
• Experience with unstructured data and ontologies
