YOUR TASKS
- Lead the development and integration of MTU's Flying Fuel Cell (FFC) propulsion system, a hydrogen-electric fuel-cell-based propulsion option for future climate-neutral aircraft.
- Design, develop, and validate the high-voltage and low-voltage electrical systems of the FFC propulsion system.
- Collaborate within interdisciplinary teams, especially with System Architecture and System Simulation teams, during FFC system development.
- Specify electrical system requirements, including customer certification and safety standards.
- Define sub-systems and components in collaboration with respective development teams (Power Distribution Units, Electric Motors, Power Electronics, Converters, Protection Devices, IMD, EWIS).
- Support certification and qualification processes, including safety analyses.
- Assist in verification and validation activities, including full-scale ground and flight testing.
- Prepare for industrialization of the FFC electrical system and its components.
- Ensure electrical system weight, performance, and efficiency targets are met.
- Support technical project management and engineering from initial design to delivery of the FFC engine.
- Contribute to improving system development processes and tools.
- Collaborate with external industry and research partners on FFC technology development.
- Coordinate national and European research projects related to FFC.
YOUR PROFILE
- University degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
- Experience in electrical engineering, preferably in aerospace.
- Experience with electric propulsion, ideally fuel-cell-based aircraft propulsion.
- Knowledge of aerospace development standards (ARP4754, ARP4761, DO-178, DO-254, DO-160).
- Experience in developing and testing high-voltage systems for aviation.
- Ability to analyze complex interdisciplinary challenges and develop practical solutions.
- Curiosity, creativity, and a focus on feasible and essential solutions for complex problems.
- Strong analytical and organizational skills.
- Enjoy working in interdisciplinary teams and with external stakeholders.
- Proficiency in English.
