eRC System is seeking a Flight Test Engineer in Ottobrunn, Germany to lead ground and flight test campaigns for development and certification of unmanned and manned aircraft systems. Qualifikationen

• Professional experience in flight test operations including planning, execution, and data analysis.
• Solid understanding of aircraft systems, flight mechanics, and test methodologies.
• Willingness to travel nationally and internationally.
• Strong English and German communication skills.

Aufgaben

• Plan, prepare, and coordinate aircraft ground and flight test campaigns for development and certification activities.
• Act as focal point for test requests from engineering departments and translate them into structured ground and flight test plans.
• Define test objectives, test conditions, and instrumentation requirements in collaboration with relevant stakeholders.
• Support planning, installation, and documentation of flight test instrumentation.
• Conduct pre-flight inspections and regular maintenance activities.
• Participate in remote crew roles, monitoring test sequence execution using telemetry from the ground station.
• Create and maintain comprehensive test documentation, including Flight Test Cards and Flight Test Reports.
• Support ongoing development of the Flight Test Organization by improving tools and processes.

ABOUT THE ROLE

Join ERC’s flight test team and contribute to the development and certification of next-generation unmanned aircraft systems. As a Flight Test Engineer, you will contribute directly to the development and certification of our uncrewed heavy-lift VTOL platform. You will be responsible for the planning, execution, and evaluation of ground and flight tests, ensuring safe and compliant operations while generating the data needed to advance our aircraft toward certification.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

• Plan, prepare, and coordinate aircraft ground and flight test campaigns for development and certification activities
• Act as focal point for test requests from engineering departments and translate them into structured ground and flight test plans
• Categorize test requests and define test objectives, test conditions, and instrumentation requirements in collaboration with relevant stakeholders
• Support the planning, installation, and documentation of flight test instrumentation
• Conduct pre-flight inspections and regular maintenance activities
• Support engineering teams in the manufacturing, integration, test aircraft
• Support weight and balance calculations and measurement activities
• Participate as remote crew member in ground and flight tests by managing and monitoring test sequence execution using telemetry systems from the ground station
• Conduct pre-test briefings and post-test debriefings
• Initiate, coordinate, and track actions to resolve deficiencies and implement recommendations identified during debriefings and in test reports
• Create and maintain comprehensive test documentation, including Flight Test Cards and Flight Test Reports
• Support the continuous development of our Flight Test Organization by improving tools, processes, and methodologies

WHAT YOU BRING

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in aerospace engineering or a comparable discipline
• Professional experience in flight test operations incl. test planning, execution, and data analysis with manned aircraft and/or rotorcraft, or professional experience in the operation of drones and/or model aircraft
• Solid understanding of aircraft systems, flight mechanics, and flight test methodologies
• Hands-on mindset with the ability to work effectively in a dynamic flight test environment
• Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving skills
• Ability to coordinate across multiple engineering disciplines
• Flexibility and willingness to travel and stay at national and international flight test locations for short- and mid-term campaigns
• Very good verbal and written communication skills in English and German

Nice to have:

• Experience with eVTOL or unmanned aircraft systems
• Knowledge of EASA certification frameworks (e.g., SC-VTOL, SORA)
• Experience with telemetry systems and flight test instrumentation
• Familiarity with data analysis tools (e.g., Python, MATLAB)
