We are looking for a Firmware Engineer (C/Rust) (m/f/d), who wants to promote our vision “To make the gym work for everyone!” by contributing to core software components which drive our device fleet. Are you up for that new challenge? Join our agile Machine Infrastructure Team of 8 Engineers in our Munich office!

  • Code Expert: You develop high quality software to control embedded devices for various motor and sensor applications in C and Rust.
  • Team Player: You work as part of a team, taking responsibility for various systems including our firmware, middleware, application drivers, design specification, testing, documentation, and deployment.
  • Innovator: You implement new features and streamline existing systems by collaborating closely with colleagues of various fields (including product, engineering, and quality control).
  • Mentor: You love to share your knowledge and responsibilities and support other team members.
  • Explorer: You have an experimental mindset and are willing to explore new frameworks and technologies to modernize our existing architectures.
Your fitness level
  • Experienced Developer: You have 2+ years of experience developing firmware in C and Rust.
  • Qualified Professional: You possess a Bachelor's degree or Higher, or an apprenticeship in the fields of Electronics, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or Computer Engineering.
  • Detail-Oriented: You care about clarity: in code, in Git commits, in the documentation, and daily communication. You consider a task only done when appropriate tests have been written.
  • Innovative Pragmatist: You balance innovation and pragmatism, finding the best way forward in an agile environment.
  • Tech Enthusiast: You are excited to try new languages, technologies, and techniques to improve safety, security and device lifecycle.
  • Standout Expertise: You can stand out from the crowd by having knowledge and experience in:
    • Embedded Rust
    • Secure Bootloaders & Signed Keys
    • Writing code for safety critical applications
    • Advanced Motor Control
    • Digital Signal Processing
    • Security standards for consumer IoT devices e.g., EU Cyber Resilience Act
    • Applications designed for small devices (Raspberry Pi, iMX)

Your training goal for your first 6 months
  • Owner: You take ownership of our Firmware, understand its architecture and deliver requirements and features as well as improving testability and functionality.
  • Problem Solver: You participate in the service duty rotation; coming in close contact with the service team to help out with any issues that are reported in the field during a business day.
  • Collaborator: You familiarise yourself with the EGYM ecosystem and the role of the different teams in the software engineering department.
  • Respected team member: You become a known and well-respected member of the Machine Infrastructure domain and the engineering department.
