About our client

Our client is a rapidly growing, PE-backed platform company focused on acquiring profitable small and mid-sized craft businesses. Founded in Scandinavia in 2020, the group has successfully expanded across multiple countries and is now establishing a strong presence in Germany. The German portfolio currently consists of six companies with further plans to grow. The position is based in Duesseldorf, Germany. What the job involves

  • Oversee and execute core accounting functions, including regular financial reconciliation
  • Prepare and oversee monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with German GAAP (HGB) and IFRS
  • Manage and continuously improve financial reporting processes (AP, AR, WIP, Intercompany transactions, IFRS16, financial close)
  • Ensure timely reporting into Group systems (MS Power BI, CCH Tagetik) and alignment with investor expectations, company growth goals, and external requirements (banks, lenders)
  • Perform cash flow planning, forecasting, and budgeting to support strategic decision-making
  • Prepare and monitor budget plans, providing support in financial planning and oversight
  • Handle end-of-year audit requirements and liaise with external auditors
  • Safeguard internal controls and ensure compliance with statutory requirements and Group standards
  • Support the integration of newly acquired companies and drive improvements in reporting quality and compliance
  • Coach and guide local finance teams, strengthening their admin and finance functions
  • Collaborate with outsourced tax and payroll providers to optimize finance-related services
  • Support IT system transitions and integration with accounting functions to improve financial reporting efficiency
  • Prepare and present financial reports to assist senior management in decision-making and operational insights
  • Partner with other departments to set up effective cost controls and financial monitoring
  • Contribute to developing best practices in financial processes and reporting in a dynamic, growth-focused environment
Who we are looking for
  • University degree in accounting, finance, economics, business studies or a related discipline
  • Solid expertise in German GAAP (HGB) and IFRS
  • A few years of professional experience in controlling, accounting, and/or audit, ideally in financial reporting processes within a shared service hub or international environment
  • Proven experience in financial controlling and external audits
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a proactive and pragmatic approach
  • Ability to independently drive projects with self-initiative and accountability
  • Familiarity with budgeting, cash flow management, and financial forecasting
  • Experienced in working with financial systems and accounting software; ERP system experience is a plus
  • Hands-on, entrepreneurial, and eager to contribute to a growing international group
  • Ability to adapt quickly to changing processes and procedures in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to coach teams and build trust
  • Willingness to work onsite, supporting the team and leadership on a full-time basis
  • Willingness to travel
  • Fluency in German and English
