We are looking for a Senior Service Engineer with a main responsibility in executing Field Service activities such as overhaul, repair and basic troubleshooting on Wärtsilä Propulsion systems. The reporting location for this position is in Hamburg, Germany but extensive travel is required for the role.

Your role and responsibilities

As a Senior Service Engineer your work will include interacting with customers and preparing service reports. You’ll be working independently to solve our customers' problems.

Your work will focus on these responsibilities:

1. Independently execute Field Service activities such as overhaul, repair and basic troubleshooting on Wärtsilä Propulsion systems.
2. Perform field service activities according to the work schedule on marine vessels & stationary power plants.
3. Perform engineering/technical support activities according to the work schedule on marine vessels & stationary power plants.
4. Mechanical maintenance and overhauling skills required for FPP, CPP, Gearbox, Transverse thruster, Azimuth thruster and WaterJet etc.
5. Carry out Propulsion product troubleshooting, maintenance and investigation.
6. Execute Propulsion product warranty, commissioning work and supervision of new building projects.
7. Prepare service reports and travel expenses on time and with expected Wärtsilä quality.
8. Technical communications with Wärtsilä field service stakeholders and customers during the work execution.
9. Ensure that the work is executed according to Wärtsilä Quality, Health, Safety and Environmental guidelines and customer site procedures.

To be successful in this role, we expect you to have:

1. Ability to work on engine/propulsion with field service & marine engineer background.
2. Ability to understand, use and correct electrical and automation schematics and drawings, and related component level documentation.
3. Possess suitable real-world knowledge and experience related to control system specification and design, marine power distribution, motor control, process sensors and instrumentation, valves, pumps, fans and other process system componentry.
4. Knowledge of machinery/field service work experience.
5. More than 3 years' experience of similar tasks.
6. Good command of written and verbal English, Diploma/BSc in Mechanical, Marine, Electric & Electronic or Mechatronic Engineering. Preference will be given to candidates who have propulsion FS experience.
