Job summary

Motorola Solutions Germany GmbH is seeking a Field Engineer to join multi-disciplinary project teams in Germany, designing and delivering mission-critical voice and data systems. You will install, test, and commission MSI and third-party solutions, supporting FAT and customer acceptance testing.

Role requires 3+ years in telecom/IT, CCNA/JNCIA or higher, OS and RF knowledge, field installation skills, driving license, and willingness to travel up to 80% and obtain security clearance.

Qualifications

• Fluent in English and German.
• At least 3 years of professional engineering experience in Telecommunication System, IP Transport Network, IT, Field, Service, Technical Support or equivalent.
• CCNA or JNCIA or higher certification.
• Good knowledge of Operating Systems and Applications (Unix, Windows, Virtualization).
• Good knowledge in Radio Frequency (Base Station TX/RX test, RF test equipment).
• Physical installation and basic field skills (wiring, soldering).
• Valid driving license and willingness to travel 80%
• Willingness to obtain relevant Security Clearance to enter customer site
• Preferred: University degree in Telecommunications/Electrical/Electronic Engineering or related field

Responsibilities

• Manage/perform implementation of communication system solutions to satisfy customer requirements.
• Participate in FAT and coordinate technical acceptance testing.
• Install, integrate, test, and commission MSI and third-party solutions (with vendor support).
• Identify, investigate, and troubleshoot issues during project implementation.
• Conduct on-site Acceptance Tests and coordinate testing efforts.
• Update technical documentation and change management.
• Provide project status updates and reporting.
• Coordinate with customer, partner, and sub-contractor teams.
• Ensure delivery aligns with Motorola Solutions Quality, Health and Safety standards.

Department Overview

The Field Engineer role forms part of multi-disciplined project teams to design and deliver complex mission critical voice and data systems. The systems may be used directly by our customers or by Motorola Solutions to deliver Managed Services to our customers. The Field Engineers work in the post sales phases of projects and may support multiple projects in a given period depending on size and complexity. There may also be a requirement to provide support to Pre-sales and Services Organization.

Job Description

• Manage and/or perform implementation of communication system solutions and services which satisfy the requirements of the customer, end user and operator
• Participate in Factory Acceptance Test (FAT) while coordinating the technical aspects of the acceptance testing.
• Responsible for the installation, integration, testing, and commissioning of MSI and 3rd party solutions (with support from supplier/vendor)
• Responsible for identifying, investigating and troubleshooting of technical issues during project implementation
• Responsible for on-site Acceptance Tests, while coordinating the technical aspects of the acceptance testing.
• Update of technical documentation and technical change management
• Communications - Project status updates and reporting.
• Responsible for self development through an agreed training plan,experience and knowledge transfer.
• Interface, communicate, and coordinate the customer, partner, sub-contractor on project deployment and best practices where required.
• Ensure the project is delivered to the Motorola Solutions Quality, Health and Safety standards.

Basic Requirements

• Fluent in English and German.
• At least 3 years of professional engineering experience in Telecommunication System, IP Transport Network, IT, Field, Service, Technical Support or those equivalent.
• Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA), Juniper Network Certified Internet Associate (JNCIA) or higher certification
• Good knowledge in Operating System and Application (Unix, Window, Virtualization Technology etc)
• Good knowledge in Radio Frequency (Base Station TX/RX test, Mobile /Portable Radio, RF test equipment )
• Manual skills for field work like wiring, soldering, physical installation of equipment in addition to commissioning and testing tasks.
• Valid Driving license
• Availability and willingness to travel (80%), inside and outside residence country
• Willingness to obtain relevant Security Clearance to enter customer site
• A University degree in Telecommunication Engineering, Computer Engineering, Electrical/Electronic Engineering, or related field is preferred but not required. We value skills, experience and demonstrated ability over formal qualification.
