Our client is a Global manufacturing organisation who are now looking to recruit a European Sales Leader, based in Germany. Reporting to the Regional President EMEA, an exciting and newly created opportunity now exists for a European Sales Leader to oversee and manage sales teams across Spain, Germany and Denmark.

The European Sales Leader will be a hands-on and experienced senior sales professional with the ability to lead from the front. The role will assume responsibility for a team of 7 sales staff based across Spain, Germany and Denmark. The ideal candidate will based in Germany (with regular travel across the distribution sites), with fluency in English, German and Spanish languages with relevant yellow goods (or related) sector experience. This is a great opportunity for an experienced Sales Leader to join the business and achieve the strategic growth objectives by developing and growing the sales team in order to realise growth plans.

Role Summary:

To manage develop, recruit and maximise sales teams’ performance across International distribution entities in Europe, working with those distribution entities teams to ensure best possible customer experience

To ensure execution of sales objectives and strategies both directly and through sales teams, driving maximum sales through effective engagement and management of end users and/or rental organisations in the distribution entities’ territories. Responsible for ensuring long-term relationships with existing customers are fostered either by the right team member or directly and for developing new business connections again through team members or directly.

To drive revenue growth without compromising profitability through increased performance of the sales team ensuring it maximises all business opportunities, through capturing larger share of existing companies’ business and winning new business accounts. This role will lead business development strategies in each Country of responsibility, supporting the group to maximise commercial opportunities for its range of products and offers.

Reporting to the Regional President EMEA & CFO, this role will build strong internal relationships with key personnel in the distribution entities particularly their business managers and take a lead role in driving those entities business development activities, concentrating on developing selling opportunities to existing and new customers. This is a business-critical role which will lead in delivering and securing more business, maximising the performance of existing salespeople, and utilising all existing colleagues, data & insight to drive sales opportunities.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement strategic sales plans that expand the Company’s customer base and solidify its presence ensuring achievement of budgeted sales objectives.
  • Make effective presentations to distributor personnel and customer decision makers at executive levels to effectively promote new sales business.
  • Monitor and analyse regional business sales performance and the effectiveness of plans and strategies and implement corrective actions where necessary.
  • Ensure adherence to unit pricing structures that will underpin the achievement of business sales objectives.
  • Build and maintain relationships with major account customers at senior level so as to ensure that the company becomes the company of first choice.
  • Provide local input for customer needs, competitor performance and market trends.
  • Convert identified opportunities for sales within specific sales teams in to order shore up position in the designated market.
  • Oversee the negotiation of profitable agreements with major customers and in doing so ensure a positive outcome for both the company and the customer.
  • Develop open communication lines to enable customers to assist in the review of service levels, and/or to take advantage of business opportunities.
  • Monitor and analyse customer profitability and resolve outstanding local customer payment issues to ensure business debtors performance.
  • Provide market intelligence for strategic planning purposes.
  • Analyse & define business trends, & market requirements, competitor activities/threats and business development opportunities that can be used to underpin profitable sales plans and strategies.
  • Work together with the broader sales teams and other functional teams to capitalise on opportunities to grow the business.
  • Research and monitor competition to leverage advantages and understand weaknesses.
  • Promote and ensure safe work practices.
  • Apply business principles, with regard to products, services and business approach in all business dealings.
  • Manage and lead the European sales teams in a fair manner to achieve performance targets and provide development opportunities where appropriate to increase employee capability & retention.
  • Constructively assess teams strength and weaknesses with a view to fully utilizing resource to achieve maximum sales.
  • Continually strive to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of systems, processes, and policies to align with strategic intent.
  • Treat customers, suppliers, and employees with respect and as partners to the business.

Ideal Candidate Profile:

  • Experienced senior sales leader with a “hands on” leadership style
  • Previous sector experience gained in AWP (Aerial Work Platforms) products and telehandlers and/or Yellow Goods Manufacturing/Automotive Manufacturing.
  • Fluent in English, German & Spanish languages – essential.
  • Motivated and self-driven with a pro-active approach to business development in a field sales environment.
  • Background in an Engineering based, business to business, environment.
  • Able to lead, motivate and develop teams.
  • First class communication skills, able to present, negotiate and influence at senior level.
  • Experience in sales, tender and quote preparations.
  • Thorough understanding and knowledge of product distribution.
  • Previous experience in Account Management or Territory Sales.
  • Yellow goods product knowledge and understanding of customer applications.
  • Strong account management and relationship building skills.
  • Proven leadership & management experience.
  • Minimum 5+ years commercial business development.
  • Commercial understanding of sales achievement and development of business and added value selling and service.
  • Strong experience in implementing strategy, based on customer feedback and analysing consumer trends.
