This role is ideal for an experienced regional or global Trade Compliance Manager who has worked within large, complex multinational corporations and is seeking a challenging and meaningful career environment.

The Opportunity

Based remotely anywhere in Germany and reporting to the Senior Director of Global Transportation, Logistics & Trade Compliance, the Trade Compliance Manager will oversee European Trade Compliance and serve as the organization's Export Control Officer.

With significant import and export flows through its Berlin manufacturing facility, the role is crucial for ensuring timely delivery of high-quality products worldwide. The manager will lead a small team, act as a Subject Matter Expert, and provide guidance and support to the business.

Key Responsibilities :

1. Lead and manage the Trade Compliance department, ensuring technical expertise and personnel development.
2. Serve as the company's Export Control Officer, maintaining compliance responsibilities.
3. Handle export license applications (dual use) and provide goods classification information.
4. Ensure compliance with German export control laws and the PIC (Rotterdam) Agreement.
5. Monitor compliance with US export laws and EU/US sanctions and embargoes.
6. Maintain current customs authorizations such as authorized exporter, approved exporter, deferred payment, and AEO-F.
7. Act as the main contact during foreign trade and import audits with customs authorities.
8. Process and review import declarations, including tax assessments.
9. Possess in-depth knowledge of EU customs tariffs and VAT assessments.
10. Perform origin calculations for large projects.
11. Develop operational work instructions for Trade Compliance.
12. Use KPIs to monitor and improve compliance processes.
13. Foster employee engagement and development through regular discussions.
14. Conduct internal training on customs and export control topics, including AEO standards.

The Ideal Candidate :

1. Has regional or global Trade Compliance experience in high-volume import/export environments within MNCs.
2. Possesses extensive knowledge of EU and US export controls and customs procedures, with personnel management experience.
3. Is a pragmatic leader capable of developing teams and managing risk effectively.
4. Has excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills, fluent in English and at least advanced German.
5. Regularly participates in seminars related to customs and export/import controls.
