Jobbeschreibung

CSS is seeking Environmental Health Technicians (EHTs) to support the U.S. Army's Public Health Command Europe (PHCE) in Landstuhl, Germany and throughout the USAREUR Area of Responsibility. EHTs will be responsible for conducting drinking water surveillance, collecting and analyzing water samples, and supporting environmental health initiatives in both office and field settings. This role plays a critical part in maintaining compliance with public health standards and ensuring the health and safety of personnel.

Duties/Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and perform drinking water sampling missions at U.S. Army Garrisons and associated facilities.
  • Prepare sample kits and perform field instrument measurements using government-furnished analytical equipment.
  • Conduct quality control and calibration of portable water quality testing devices.
  • Operate equipment including spectrophotometers, colorimeters, GPS units, and pH/conductivity meters.
  • Enter data and reports into the Government's systems (e.g., DOEHRS).
  • Travel to designated field locations, collect samples, and document results including photographs and field notes.
  • Participate in the planning and logistics of sample collection with PHCE staff and installation representatives.
  • Adhere to safety procedures and wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).

Required Skills/Abilities

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills in English.
  • Working knowledge of environmental science principles, especially related to drinking water quality.
  • Proficient in operating field sampling and analytical equipment.
  • Able to read maps and navigate across military installations in the PHCE AOR.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and follow detailed procedures accurately.

Education And Experience

  • Graduate of an Environmental Science Specialist/Technician course OR Associate's/Bachelor's degree in Environmental Technology or Engineering.
  • Minimum of one year of experience in water sampling and laboratory or field environmental health work.

Work Authorization, Government Agency Clearance, Security Clearance Requirements

Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license, USAREUR driver's license, or an EU travel identity card valid for the duration of employment. Must be eligible to pass a background check for base access and computer system access.

Pre Employment Requirements

Pre-employment background check and eligibility verification through E-Verify are required.

Equipment Needed

Field sampling tools, PPE, GPS, spectrophotometers, laptops/tablets with Government access software.

Physical And Mental Requirements

Ability to lift up to 40 pounds, walk on uneven terrain, stand for extended periods, and conduct fieldwork in varying environmental conditions. Mental acuity required to follow sampling protocols, accurately enter data, and exercise sound judgment in the field.

Working Environment

Approximately 60% office/laboratory and 40% fieldwork, including travel throughout Europe.

Travel Required

Yes - travel throughout USAREUR AOR and temporary duty assignments outside Landstuhl, Germany.
