Qualifikationen

• Bachelor's degree in OH&S, engineering, science or related field.
• NEBOSH Construction or IGC, OSHA 30-Hr Construction or equivalent.
• Minimum 5 years' EHS leadership on large construction projects.
• Strong knowledge of construction health, safety, and environmental regulations.

A leading international engineering and construction partner is seeking an experienced Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) Manager to support the delivery of major hyperscale data centre projects across Germany.

Reporting to the Head of Environmental, Health & Safety, this is a senior site-based leadership role responsible for driving EHS strategy, governance, and compliance across a large-scale construction project. You will work closely with project leadership, clients, contractors, and site teams to promote a positive safety culture while ensuring the highest standards of health, safety, and environmental performance.

The Role

As EHS Manager, you will provide strategic leadership across all Environmental, Health & Safety activities on site. You'll be responsible for ensuring legislative compliance, delivering assurance programmes, leading incident investigations, and embedding a proactive safety culture that supports the successful delivery of complex mission-critical projects.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the development, implementation, and continual improvement of project-specific Environmental, Health & Safety programmes
• Provide expert leadership and guidance on all EHS matters to project leadership teams and site personnel
• Support the Construction Director in fulfilling statutory health and safety responsibilities
• Promote behavioural safety initiatives and continuous improvement programmes across the project
• Build and maintain strong working relationships with clients, contractors, consultants, and project stakeholders
• Represent the EHS function during client meetings, governance reviews, audits, and leadership forums
• Ensure compliance with all relevant legislation, client requirements, contractual obligations, and company standards
• Plan and oversee audits, inspections, compliance reviews, and assurance activities
• Monitor project performance through leading and lagging safety indicators, identifying trends and opportunities for improvement
• Prepare and present detailed EHS reports, dashboards, and performance updates to project and client leadership teams
• Lead incident and near-miss investigations, ensuring robust root cause analysis and effective corrective actions
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives that strengthen risk management processes and overall project performance
• Support the development and standardisation of EHS systems, processes, and best practices across multiple projects

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Engineering, Science, or a related discipline, or equivalent professional experience
• NEBOSH Construction Certificate, NEBOSH International General Certificate, OSHA 30-Hour Construction, or an equivalent health and safety qualification
• Minimum of 5 years' experience in a dedicated EHS role within construction, industrial, manufacturing, or similar environments
• Strong knowledge of construction health, safety, and environmental legislation and industry best practice
• Experience implementing, managing, and continually improving EHS management systems
• Proven experience conducting audits, inspections, incident investigations, and root cause analysis
• Strong stakeholder management skills with the ability to influence teams at all levels
• Experience delivering behavioural safety initiatives and workforce engagement programmes
• Excellent analytical, communication, reporting, and organisational skills
• Proficient in Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
