ficonTEC Service GmbH is seeking an ambitious R&D Development Engineer in Photonics Assembly & Test to advance high‑precision manufacturing and test processes for optoelectronic systems. You will work hands‑on with automated equipment, from lab experiments to deployment in real applications, blending technical depth with structured project execution in an international setting.

The role requires a PhD or equivalent experience, strong optics and metrology know‑how, and the ability to lead topics

Qualifikationen

• PhD in engineering, physics, photonics, or a related field or 3–5 years of relevant R&D experience.
• Broad technical understanding of photonics/optics, precision mechanics, automation, and metrology.
• Hands-on experience with complex laboratory setups, optical systems, and high-precision measurement equipment.
• Experience in technical project environments, e.g. application engineering, customer projects, or work package ownership.
• Experience with fiber optics, photonic packaging, or precision assembly is a strong plus.
• Ability to work independently and drive topics from concept through to implementation.
• Strong analytical thinking and pragmatic problem-solving skills with high attention to detail.
• Confident communication skills and ability to collaborate across interdisciplinary teams and external partners.
• Fluent English required; German is a plus

As an R&D Development Engineer – Photonics Assembly & Test, you will actively shape the development of high-precision manufacturing and test processes for optoelectronic and photonic systems. You will work hands-on with advanced automated equipment—from experimental development in the lab to implementation in real-world applications. In doing so, you combine deep technical expertise with structured project execution in an international environment.
