Jobbeschreibung

Enabler for smaller, more powerful, and more energy-efficient microchips Working for tomorrow today. Around 80 percent of all microchips worldwide are produced using ZEISS technologies. As the centerpiece of every electronically controlled system, they have become an integral part of our everyday lives - whether in smartphones, smart homes or smart factories. ZEISS is a technology leader in the field of semiconductor manufacturing equipment. With high-precision lithography optics, photomask systems and process control solutions, ZEISS enables the production of ever smaller, increasingly powerful, and more energy-efficient microchips, and thus plays a pivotal role in the age of micro- and nanoelectronics.

Your role:

You will work in an interdisciplinary team to design, specify, and further develop micro-systems and subsystems across the entire development lifecycle. You will develop and evaluate system architectures, derive requirements, and ensure their coherent implementation. You will analyze interactions between microsystems, electronics, packaging, controls, environmental conditions, and the overall system - with a particular focus on electromechanical interfaces. In a technical interface role with suppliers and development partners, you will steer and assess development contributions in terms of designs, technology, performance, quality, and manufacturability. You will define modeling, simulation, characterization, and verification approaches, analyze deviations, and develop robust system solutions. You will prepare technology and architecture decisions, present them to stakeholders, and strengthen knowledge growth in microsystems engineering and adjacent disciplines.

Your profile:

Degree in microsystems technology, electrical engineering, mechatronics, physics, mechanical engineering, or a related field. Several years of experience in development, system design, or integration of MEMS, ideally in collaboration with suppliers, foundries, or development partners. Solid knowledge of operating principles, architectures, fabrication technologies, and system boundaries of microelectromechanical systems; deeper electronics knowledge is a plus. Broad system understanding in adjacent areas, especially electronics, packaging, controls, testing, and reliability. Experience in requirements engineering as well as verification, validation, characterization, and fault analysis. Knowledge of micro-system process technology, particularly surface and bulk micromechanics, and experience in modeling and simulation of microsystems is advantageous. Ability to address complex technical questions deeply while maintaining a system-level view. Strong communication and collaboration skills and a confident presence at interdisciplinary and cross-organizational interfaces. Fluent German (C1) and good English (B2).
