Job summary

Avelios Medical GmbH in Munich seeks an Engineering Team Lead to own both people leadership and the technical direction of a cross-functional team. You will guide 4–10 engineers across frontend and backend, advocating pragmatic, high-quality software delivery while staying hands-on when needed.

You’ll shape architecture, drive reliability, and balance immediate product needs with long-term platform health, all while mentoring engineers and collaborating with Product partners.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field from a top-tier university or equivalent track record of technical excellence.
• 6+ years of experience in software engineering with a strong track record of shipping production software.
• 3+ years of experience leading and developing software engineers and providing technical direction to a team.
• Strong fundamentals across system design, architecture, code quality, testing, and reliability.
• Experience making architectural and technical decisions for complex software products.
• Full-Stack experience or ability to operate across Frontend and Backend is preferred.
• Fluent in English; German is a plus.

THE TEAM AND ROLE

As an Engineering Team Lead, you will combine technical and people leadership, taking ownership of both your team’s performance and the technical direction of its work.

You will lead a team of approximately 4–10 engineers across Frontend and Backend and build a focused, high-performing team that consistently ships high-quality software into production.

You will coach and develop engineers, set a high bar for engineering quality, and define the technical direction for your domain. You will make pragmatic decisions around architecture, priorities, technical debt, and reliability while balancing immediate product needs with the long-term health of our platform.

This is not a purely managerial role. You will stay close to the technology, step into hands-on work where needed, cut through complexity, and ensure your team keeps moving toward the highest-impact outcomes.

YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES

• Collaborate closely with Product and other Engineering teams to align on priorities, dependencies, and outcomes

YOUR QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field from a top-tier university, or an equivalent track record of technical excellence

• 6+ years of experience in software engineering, with a strong track record of building and shipping production software

• 3+ years of experience leading and developing software engineers and providing technical direction to a team

• Strong software engineering fundamentals across system design, architecture, code quality, testing, and reliability

• Experience making architectural and technical decisions for complex software products

• Full-Stack experience or the ability to confidently operate across Frontend and Backend is preferred

• Strong technical judgment and the ability to make effective decisions in a fast-moving environment with incomplete information

• High degree of ownership and drive, with a bias toward action and getting things done

• Pragmatic, solution-oriented mindset with a strong focus on outcomes

• Fluent in English; German is a plus
