The technician must learn quickly, adapt to evolving operational priorities, and contribute to world-class facility operations. Responsibilities include safety initiatives, equipment upkeep (UPS, switchgear, generators, HVAC, VFDs, transformers), and incident response within SLAs.

The successful candidate will oversee the operation and maintenance of the electrical and mechanical infrastructure for Data Centers (DC) in Amazon Web Services (AWS) Cloud regions. Our technicians operate and maintain world‑class mechanical and electrical infrastructure. In addition to technical operations and maintenance, the candidate will oversee facility operations and ensure the implementation of safety procedures.

The role requires a motivated, self‑managed person who demonstrates initiative and proactively seeks solutions to problems while striving for operational excellence. The work follows a process‑oriented approach: the candidate needs a strong willingness to learn new processes and adapt to rapidly changing operational scenarios with conflicting priorities.

Key Responsibilities

• Ensure safety: follow and maintain the highest safety standards, encourage a world‑class safety culture, remediate risks/issues with other teams, and lead safety initiatives and projects.
• Operate and maintain electrical and mechanical equipment, including UPSs, switchgear, circuit breakers, ATSs, diesel generators, chillers, HVAC, exhaust fans, VFDs, and transformers, ensuring maintenance and operation of technical infrastructure.
• Troubleshoot events within internal Service Level Agreements (SLAs).
• Take daily operational readings of all mechanical and electrical equipment through routine rounds or log taking (temperatures, voltages, currents, etc.).
• Supervise contractors or Engineering Operations Technicians to ensure proper operation and maintenance of all facility equipment.
• Drive continuous improvement efforts on infrastructure through standardization of procedures and policies while delivering performance against agreed metrics.
• Provide training and guidance to Engineering Operations Technicians and assist in recruiting efforts.
• Lead root‑cause analyses for operational issues and conduct meetings with Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) to finalize mitigation strategies.
• Perform manual handling and lifting of equipment as required (within weight limits set by regulations).
• Work shifts (morning, late, and night) and participate in on‑call rotation for emergency calls.

Qualifications

• High school or equivalent diploma.
• Knowledge of key electrical competencies and theory.
• Experience in data center engineering (preferred).
