Role Overview

The Data Center Engineering Operations Technician (EOT) is responsible for delivering best‑practice systems and resolving problems on all data center electrical and mechanical infrastructure within a specific location. The role requires a highly driven, self‑managed individual who demonstrates initiative and proactively seeks solutions to complex technical problems.

Frequent site interventions, critical switching activities, and troubleshooting and fixing infrastructure issues are part of the role. Key responsibilities include safety, engineering, and facility operations and maintenance.

Key Responsibilities

• Safety – Follow and maintain the highest safety standards, encourage a world‑class safety culture, ensure remediation of safety risks, and own safety initiatives and projects.
• Engineering & Facility Operations & Maintenance – Operational experience with electrical and mechanical equipment such as UPS, switchgear, circuit breakers, ATS, diesel generators, chillers, HVAC, exhaust fans, VFDs, and transformers. Tasks include:
  • Troubleshoot events within internal SLAs.
  • Take daily operational readings of all mechanical and electrical equipment through routine rounds and log‑taking.
  • Supervise contractors or EOT staff to ensure proper operation and maintenance of all facility equipment.
  • Drive continuous improvement efforts on infrastructure through standardization of procedures and policies, delivering performance against agreed metrics.
  • Provide training and guidance to EOT staff and assist in recruiting efforts.
  • Lead root cause analysis for operational issues and conduct meetings with SMEs to finalize mitigation strategies.

Physical Requirements

• Manual handling and lifting of equipment as required.
• Ability to work shifts (morning, late, and night).
• On‑call rotation for off‑duty emergency calls.
• Work at heights and from ladders; noisy environment with ear protection.
• Perform physical tasks during the shift.

Qualifications

• Basic – Apprentice or trade certification or diploma in an electrical or mechanical field or equivalent training. Broad operational knowledge of electrical and mechanical equipment. Good English communication.
• Preferred – Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field. Knowledge of network design and low‑voltage (copper/fiber) cabling. Experience in data center engineering. Ability to perform physical tasks all day without becoming overly tired.

Salary

EUR 45,000 – 65,000 per year.
