As they scale their platform to support growing demand across Europe, they’re now seeking an experienced Tech Lead / Team Manager to guide a talented backend engineering team while remaining hands-on with high-performing, scalable systems that make a meaningful impact.

This is a fantastic opportunity for a senior backend engineer with proven leadership experience who thrives in an agile, cross-functional environment and wants to shape both technical direction and team growth.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead, mentor, and coach a team of backend engineers, supporting their technical development and career progression.
• Collaborate closely with product managers, engineers, and other stakeholders to translate requirements into robust, scalable solutions.
• Oversee the design, development, and delivery of backend services, ensuring clean architecture, high performance, and maintainability.
• Contribute hands-on to coding, reviews, and architectural decisions while fostering engineering best practices.
• Manage the backend lifecycle end-to-end — from development through deployment, monitoring, and continuous improvement.
• Drive a culture of collaboration, ownership, and continuous learning within the team.

Skills & Experience:

• Strong track record delivering scalable backend applications in modern programming languages (Java 17+, Kotlin, Jakarta).
• Proven experience leading and managing engineering teams, including 1:1s, mentoring, and performance feedback.
• Solid understanding of relational databases and writing optimised SQL queries.
• Comfortable working in agile teams and influencing technical strategy as well as day-to-day delivery.
• Strong problem-solving skills, with a focus on designing clean, scalable architecture.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Background in Computer Science or a related technical field is preferred.
