Overview

We are looking for an experienced and talented Engineering Manager to join our dynamic team. As an Engineering Manager at Mercanis, you will be responsible for leading two vertical teams of engineers, working on cutting edge technology and ensuring the successful delivery of high-quality web applications and services. You will collaborate closely with the product and customer success teams to translate user requirements into seamless, responsive, and safe user experiences. The ideal candidate has a strong technical background in back-end development and a proven track record of leading and mentoring a team.

Note: This role is based in Berlin, Germany and is not remote. To be considered, candidates must currently reside in Berlin, Germany and hold a valid work permit for employment in Germany. We are unable to offer relocation support or visa sponsorship for this position at present.

Role requirements

• Extensive working experience as a Backend developer (Node.js; Nest.js experience is a big plus).
• Proven experience as an Engineering Manager (> 2 years) or in a similar leadership role, managing and mentoring engineering teams.
• Demonstrated ability to architect and design modern cloud-based solutions with a focus on security, quality, and maintainability.
• Excellent problem-solving skills, with the ability to analyse and resolve complex engineering challenges.
• Strong communication and leadership skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
• Agile and pragmatic start-up mindset: result-focused and collaborative.
• Continuous learning attitude.
