Engineering Director (m / f / d)
Your tasks :
- Lead Engineering Team
- Manage German and Czech Republic engineering managers and EU Laboratory managers
- Define and refine the design and development processes
- Ensure compliance with internal and external standards, policies, and laws
- Support escalation of quality claims and align engineering/lab team strategies
- Promote teamwork and lead the team to define and achieve objectives
- Maintain motivation and engagement within the team
- Assess employee skills and training needs
- Mentor potential leaders within the organization
- Recruit new talent
- Support the development of the global product roadmap
- Participate in benchmarking and research into new technology areas
- Develop products outside traditional CS types (e.g., CCS)
- Leverage global cross-functional capabilities
- Guide engineering through RFQ processes and Technical Design Reviews
- Present Lear CS Engineering capabilities and product focus to customers during TDR
- Strategically plan Vertical Integration products for EDS (Wire Harness Division)
- Manage European Engineering and Laboratory budgets
- Oversee current year month-end closing and forecasting
- Develop budgets for the upcoming year
- Approve expenditures
- Implement corporate cost reduction initiatives, including footprint optimization and expanded use of Brno and PETC locations in CS
- Improve efficiency through digital tools, simulation, and automation
- Build cooperative relationships with departments such as Sales, Purchasing, Finance, Cost and Price, EDS, Electronics, High Power, Seating, Lab, and Quality
- Support the lab in enhancing Connection Systems validation capabilities
- Lead CTO activities related to cost-saving initiatives, developing a roadmap with clear actions and responsibilities
Your profile :
- Degree from a Technical University
- Extensive experience in Engineering or Project Management, preferably in Terminal & Connectors
- Knowledge in operations and manufacturing processes (progressive die stamping, injection molding, assembly)
- Experience with metals and plastics
- Familiarity with Quality and Engineering processes such as APQP, DFMEA, DFSS, FEM
- Fluent in spoken and written English
