Job Title

Field Applications Engineer (Graduate Entry) – Physical AI, Embedded Software & Radio Systems

Location

Munich

About the Role

Join a technical team developing intelligent systems that connect the physical and digital worlds. As a graduate Field Applications Engineer in the Communications Team, you will focus on Physical AI: combining sensing, embedded software and AI to interpret real-world signals and enable intelligent system responses. Working alongside experienced mentors, you will develop hands‑on demonstrations and customer‑focused proof‑of‑concept solutions using radio systems, software‑defined radio (SDR) platforms and edge computing. The role combines software development, signal processing and hardware integration, taking ideas from initial exploration through practical validation.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop proof‑of‑concept solutions combining Physical AI, embedded software and radio systems for real‑world sensing and communication applications.
  • Develop and debug embedded software in C/C++ and Python for radio configuration, data acquisition, signal processing and system control.
  • Integrate SDR platforms with embedded processors and edge‑computing hardware to build end‑to‑end demonstrators.
  • Contribute to AI workflows, including dataset preparation, model evaluation and deployment on edge platforms, with guidance from experienced engineers.
  • Implement and validate signal‑processing pipelines for applications such as spectrum awareness, RF signal classification and intelligent wireless sensing.
  • Explore multimodal sensing by combining RF information with other sensor inputs, such as camera data.
  • Measure and improve system performance, including processing latency, data throughput, resource usage and reliability.
  • Troubleshoot hardware–software integration issues in laboratory and customer settings.
  • Collaborate with customers and internal engineering teams to translate application needs into practical technical solutions.
  • Present demonstrations, document results and communicate technical findings clearly.
  • Take ownership of defined project tasks while proactively seeking feedback, building technical skills and working with mentors.
Requirements
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Communications Engineering or a related field; recent or upcoming graduate.
  • Practical programming experience in C/C++ and Python through coursework, academic projects, internships or personal projects.
  • Foundational knowledge of embedded systems and digital signal processing, with an interest in wireless communications and radio systems.
  • Basic understanding of AI/machine learning concepts and a strong interest in applying them to physical‑world signals and embedded applications.
  • Hands‑on experience developing, testing or debugging software on hardware platforms.
  • Ability to approach open‑ended technical problems systematically and turn ideas into working prototypes.
  • Clear communication, teamwork and documentation skills.
  • Willingness to learn new technologies and engage with customers and cross‑functional teams.
Desirable Experience
  • Experience in one or more of the following areas is desirable: Embedded Linux, real‑time software or hardware interfaces such as SPI, I²C and UART.
  • SDR platforms, RF measurements, wireless protocols or I/Q signal processing.
  • AI frameworks such as PyTorch or TensorFlow, including model training and inference.
  • GPU‑accelerated processing, CUDA or deployment of AI models on edge‑computing platforms.
  • Computer vision, sensor fusion or integrated sensing and communication.
  • Git, automated testing and reproducible development workflows.
What We Offer

Hands‑on mentoring and structured training in Physical AI, embedded software, signal processing and radio technologies. Opportunities to build working prototypes and contribute to customer‑facing demonstrations. Exposure to cross‑functional projects spanning sensing, connectivity and edge intelligence. A growth path toward technical specialization or broader applications engineering responsibilities. A collaborative, supportive team culture.
