Your mission

This is a first-class opportunity to join Sungrow Power EMEA as a principal engineer, specialising in Battery Energy Storage System to join our ESS technical Team based in Germany. As a principal engineer, you will focus on technical design and ESS customized solution proposals to support the delivery of energy storage projects, mainly battery energy storage systems (BESS). You will take a leading role in supporting Sungrow's ESS market in Europe and development, and also support solar PV, wind, and other renewable energy projects for the group.
Your responsibilities will include:

• Providing high-quality technical advisory services for pre-sale activities
• Project management and interfacing between engineering disciplines (electric, mechanical, civil, control schemes)
• Assessing technical and economic feasibility of projects and integration with other energy sources
• Reviewing project designs and suggesting improvements
• Preparing specifications, tendering, negotiating, and selecting battery storage systems
• Conducting due diligence and supporting clients and lenders through the financial close process
• Possessing knowledge of renewable generation connection studies and PCS performance approval processes is advantageous
• Establishing technical specifications for ESS in accordance with European regulations and international standards (IEC/IEEE)

Your profile

To be suitable, you should have:

• A Bachelor's degree in Engineering or equivalent (preferably electrical)
• Experience with BESS technology, ideally with both UK and European experience
• In-depth knowledge of BESS technologies, including emerging trends and international markets
• Experience in technical advisory roles for investors and project developers, and in BESS plant design
• Experience with international solar PV or hybrid project development and delivery
• Proven ability to communicate technical reviews effectively with clients and project stakeholders (utilities, EPCs, etc.)
• Language skills: English and German at least C1 level; additional languages are a plus
