We are looking for an Energy Market Analyst (m / f / d) focusing on Germany and Central Western Europe to join the Market Analysis team in UPM Energy. The position could be located either in Helsinki or Augsburg.

I am looking for an energy market analyst focusing on the German and Continental energy markets. Your working location can be either in Helsinki, where the rest of the team is based, or in Augsburg, where our important customer for German market analysis operates. What you will do

1. Assume main responsibility for our Central West Europe (CWE) electricity market modelling and price view.
2. Update price forecasts in the short-term, mid-term, and long-term horizons.
3. Develop market models and related processes.
4. Prepare and present fundamental power and commodity market analyses, providing valuable input for decision-making in production and consumption optimization, hedging, and trading activities.
5. Contribute to energy commodity analysis with a focus on gas and carbon markets, depending on your experience and interest.

Who you are

1. You have a university degree in engineering, math, physics, or economics.
2. You have some years of work experience in a relevant field, such as CWE electricity markets, energy commodity markets, data science, mathematical modelling, or optimisation.
3. You master the basics of data science and the principles of electricity and energy commodity markets.
4. You are motivated, able to learn, and see the big picture.
5. You have great communication, cooperation, and presentation skills.
6. You have experience with data science (Python, SQL), fundamental simulation software (Plexos), and visualization platforms (PowerBI).
7. You are fluent in English; knowledge of German would be valuable.
