Job Opportunity: Python Developer for Data Acquisition Systems

We are seeking a Python Developer with experience in Data Acquisition on Zynq or similar SoC and FPGA platforms for our Controls group, as part of the STEPHANIK project. The Slovak Technical Ecosphere Platform (STEPHANIK) is a transformation and innovation program by the Slovak Government, supported by EuXFEL and DESY, focusing on high data-rate FPGA acquisition systems.

Responsibilities include:

  • Evolving existing data acquisition systems at EuXFEL towards Zynq or similar platforms
  • Interfacing with project partners and understanding platform requirements
  • Implementing high-level Python libraries for platform interfacing
  • Prototyping integration of the SCADA system, Karabo, with these platforms

The project collaborates with EuXFEL’s Controls Software and Electronic and Electrical Engineering Groups.

Qualifications include:

  • University degree in Electronics, Computer Science, Physics, or a comparable field
  • Proven Python skills and experience developing Python interfaces for SoC FPGA platforms like Zynq
  • Experience with ML frameworks, FPGA programming, asynchronous programming, and high-speed data acquisition systems are assets
  • Good communication skills for requirements gathering from diverse stakeholders
