A well-established engineering business in the high-tech instrumentation space is expanding its embedded software team. This role involves hands-on development for custom hardware used in precision environments, with a focus on modernizing system architecture and adapting software to user-specific needs.
What You’ll Do
- Develop and evolve software for embedded systems using C++, Qt, and QML as part of a cross-functional team.
- Transition legacy systems to Yocto-based builds and maintain the platform going forward.
- Work on enhancements, new feature rollouts, and code refactoring using up-to-date development methods.
- Ensure system integrity and security by implementing Linux-based hardening measures.
- Perform diagnostics, bug fixes, and provide long-term support for deployed solutions.
- Contribute to technical documentation, peer reviews, and functional testing.
- Build tailored adaptations to meet unique client requirements.
What You Bring
- Professional background in developing software for embedded Linux platforms using C++ and Qt.
- Direct experience with Yocto or similar embedded build environments.
- Awareness of licensing models in open-source software.
- Knowledge of device-level communication technologies and system integration practices.
- Strong grasp of software design strategies and maintainable architecture.
- Ability to pick up existing projects quickly and contribute meaningful improvements.
- Good communication skills and a collaborative working style.
