European XFEL is an international non-profit company located in the Hamburg area in Germany. It operates a 3.4 km-long X-ray laser, which produces X-rays of unique quality for studies in physics, chemistry, the life sciences, materials research and other disciplines. The diverse scientific facilities at European XFEL enable scientists from across the globe to carry out a wide range of experimental techniques.
For our FXE group we are looking for an
Electronics Engineer (f/m/d)
Reference number: E-383
Duration: This appointment is initially limited to 2 years and may become permanent subject to later decision.
Aufgaben:
- Integration and commissioning of electrical/electronic devices such as measurement equipment, data acquisition, power delivery, motors and cameras to the instrument control systems
- Hands-on electronics design, development, troubleshooting and device repair
- Develop and implement improvements of electronic systems based on the personal interest of the candidate
- Provide expertise for improvement of the instrument's electrical/ electronic setup for better performance, new capabilities, operability and robustness
- Support preparation for scientific experiments
- Work in close collaboration with other expert groups in the company
- Document the work accomplished and maintain project-relevant documentation
Profil:- Degree in mechatronics or electronics engineering, or equivalent
- Understanding of electrical/electronic schematics and instrumentation
- Knowledge of communication protocols and standards
- Experience with any of the following would be considered an asset:
- Electronics equipment integration into control systems
- Fast signals (< 1ns) and/or optical /X‑ray detectors
- SCADA based control systems
- Beckhoff PLC or similar motion control systems
- Python programming or similar tools
- Field experience in industrial motion systems
- Good communication skills and ability to work in a multilingual, multidisciplinary team with English as the working language
- Work independently and in an organized manner within a highly motivated team
