About the role

We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled electrochemist. In this pivotal role, you will be responsible for the design, simulation, and experimental validation of cutting-edge lithium-ion cells featuring our novel multilayer electrode structures. You will work on coin cells, single-layer, and multilayer pouch cells, primarily utilizing LFP cathodes and graphite-based anodes. As an ideal candidate, you are a motivated team player, who has a passion for high-impact technology development, energy storage, and sustainability. You are an independent thinker, results-driven and comfortable in a fast-paced, collaborative, and dynamic startup environment.

Your responsibilities

  • Electrochemical simulation : Build and use DFN/multilayer DFN models in Python to simulate lithium-ion cells
  • Electrode Design: Optimize electrode architectures for energy density and fast-charging capability
  • Lab Work: Assemble and test coin and pouch cells using self-defined or collaborative testing protocols (e.g. galvanostatic cycling, accelerated ageing, dQdV, GITT, EIS)
  • Data Analysis: Analyze and interpret electrochemical data (cycling data, rate capability, equivalent circuit modeling)
  • Cross-Team Collaboration: Work closely with hardware and process engineers to align on design-performance tradeoffs

About You

  • Academic background: MSc or PhD in electrochemistry, chemical engineering or related
  • Industry experience: Ideally 2y+ industry experience
  • Lab proficiency: Hands-on lab experience with cell assembly and test routines (e.g. Neware, Biologic)
  • Programming skills: Highly proficient in Python for data analysis and simulation scripting (e.g. Pandas, NumPy, SciPy, Matplotlib)
  • Modeling skills: Strong background in battery modeling and electrochemical analysis (e.g. DFN, P2D, PyBAMM, COMSOL)
  • Analytical mindset: Strong analytical mindset, with demonstrated expertise in data-driven methodologies (e.g. design of experiments - DOE).
  • Problem solver: Creative, analytical mindset and independent working style
  • Teamplayer & Ownership: Seeking ownership of projects and enjoy working within cross-functional, impact-driven teams
