Job Description: Electrical Installation Technician at AWS

AWS Infrastructure Services owns the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure. We support all AWS data centers and the servers, storage, networking, power, and cooling equipment that ensure our customers have continual access to innovation. We work on challenging problems with numerous variables impacting the supply chain, and we're looking for talented individuals to join us.

You will join a diverse team of software, hardware, and network engineers, supply chain specialists, security experts, operations managers, and other vital roles. You will collaborate across AWS to uphold safety and security standards while providing extensive capacity at minimal cost, fostering an inclusive culture that encourages bold ideas and ownership.

Role Overview: Electrical Installation Technician

You will be responsible for powering up new racks to increase AWS server and network capacity, involving work on ATSs, PDCs, and Catchers. This role requires a highly motivated, self-managed individual capable of planning daily operations and traveling within the city.

Key Responsibilities

1. Maintain safety standards and promote a safety culture in all operational procedures.
2. Drive continuous infrastructure improvements through standardization and performance metrics.
3. Ensure 100% uptime of all customer-supporting infrastructure.
4. Collaborate effectively with internal and external stakeholders to deliver operational excellence.
5. Follow standard operating procedures and document issues in trouble ticket systems.
6. Prioritize tasks effectively in a fast-paced environment.
7. Perform rack power-up procedures and system walkthroughs.
8. Prepare power whip installations and deploy them.
9. Verify proper rack installation and update monitoring systems accordingly.

The role involves travel between data center sites and possibly internationally.

Physical Requirements

• Travel across Frankfurt to different locations daily.
• Work at heights and from ladders.
• Perform physical tasks regularly.
• Work in noisy environments with ear protection.
• Wear personal protective equipment (PPE).

Qualifications

• Completed apprenticeship (Ausbildung) or equivalent diploma in electrical field.
• Fluent in English.
• Strong technical ownership and problem-solving skills, with IT proficiency.
• At least 1 year of data center engineering or related experience.
• Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Mechanical Engineering, or relevant discipline.
