Backend Engineer - Everyday Banking

About The Opportunity

You will work in the Everyday Banking domain. This is where all payment and card transactions are being managed and processed by modern & high-volume systems that power the best customer experience possible. These teams make banking easy, reliable, seamless and secure - everyday for every customer.

As a Backend Engineer at N26, you will be encouraged to embrace the latest technological updates and given a platform to work on complex, interesting problems on a daily basis.

In This Role, You Will

1. Collaborate closely with your Tech Lead on architecting new features and seeing them through to completion.
2. Design, develop, test, deploy and maintain software in a thriving environment.
3. Have opportunities to mentor junior members in the team by relentlessly guarding code quality through pull requests and helping them when they have questions.
4. Stay up to date with the latest trends in technology and you are not afraid to propose some findings during our Get Stuff Done Days.
5. Work within your cross-functional team to uphold the highest technical standards right across the product.

What You Need To Be Successful

1. Experience in developing software using a JVM language and Spring Boot in large-scale production systems (note: experience of Kotlin would be a plus).
2. Sound understanding of microservice architecture.
3. Knowledge of both relational and non-relational databases, preferably Postgres.
4. Appreciation of working in a modern cloud architecture, preferably with AWS.
5. Full professional proficiency in English.
6. Strong bias for action, and getting things done.
7. Ongoing appreciation and consideration for security.
8. Motivation to write code which is well-tested and well-documented.
9. Give and receive open, direct and timely feedback.
