Job Description:

We are looking for an exceptional Vendor Manager who will grow the Local Champion Brands of zooplus across Europe. You will have full flexibility in managing customer experience, topline performance, and profitability of your vendors, taking the relationship with them to the next level. By scaling and automating all interactions with the vendor base—including identifying and signing up new vendors, creating items in the catalog, negotiating contracts and terms, managing promotional activities, and resolving operational issues—you will have a direct impact on the business, setting zooplus apart from its competitors. Are you ready to take on this challenge?

As a Vendor Manager, you will:

  • Develop, implement, and control a product range strategy in close collaboration with the manager and local sales teams.
  • Implement an attractive presentation of the products (local product content as well as brand presentation).
  • Manage payment terms and cost structure in contractual agreements; audit for best-in-class terms for assigned vendors or categories.
  • Create opportunities for growth, customer acquisition, and retention by conducting market, competitor, and range analysis.
  • Influence vendors to prioritize customer experience by lowering costs, improving the supply chain, reducing defects, and driving efficiencies in collaboration with the manager.
  • Increase vendor participation through deep knowledge of program opportunities such as saver plan, bonus points.
  • Review results of promotions and adjust strategies accordingly, negotiating new promotions if needed.
  • Act as an escalation point to respond to vendor needs for categories; identify and communicate trends.
  • Audit metrics (e.g., traffic, conversion, search results, customer feedback) to identify trends or issues; communicate root causes to the manager.
  • Deep dive into customer pain points across vendors and categories; make recommendations for scalable solutions.
  • Network cross-functionally with the local Sales team, Purchasing, Replenishment, Supply Chain Development, and Master-data to ensure efficient assortment management throughout the product lifecycle.
  • Support project management for intra-functional and smaller cross-functional projects.
  • Build and maintain knowledge management tools such as wikis and shared drives.
  • Seek opportunities to develop deeper or multiple areas of expertise; share knowledge internally and externally.

Qualifications

  • Graduate degree in a business-related discipline
  • 2+ years of relevant experience in Category Management, Vendor Management, or Purchasing
  • Fluency in German and English
  • Experience in project work
  • Ability to understand customer needs and market requirements
  • Ability to think and react in a high-energy, fast-paced environment
  • High communication skills—speaking, writing, presenting, negotiating
  • Proficiency in MS Office (especially Excel and PowerPoint)
