A Legal Adviser (m / f) with focus on financial crime

The ABBL

The ABBL is the largest professional association in the financial sector, representing most financial institutions as well as regulated financial intermediaries, law firms, consultancies, auditors, market infrastructures, e-money and payment institutions.

It promotes the sustainable development of regulated, innovative, and responsible banking services in Luxembourg.

Your position

The successful applicant will work with a high degree of autonomy within a small team of subject-matter experts under the supervision of the Head of Legal, Tax and Compliance.

  • Analysis of draft regulations and laws impacting the financial sector in the fields of AML / CFT
  • Preparation of position papers and coordination of advocacy initiatives with respect to the same
  • Assistance and information to ABBL members and preparation of industry guidelines within the area of expertise
  • Animation, coordination, and follow-up of relevant ABBL workstreams
  • Organisation of topical conferences and participation to external events as and when appropriate
  • Handling contacts with competent authorities to discuss relevant technical issues
  • Participation to external working groups at national and European levels

Your profile

  • Master's degree in law, preferably with some specialization in AML / CFT
  • Relevant professional experience of at least 5 years
  • Fluent in English and French (oral and written); knowledge of German and / or Luxembourgish is considered an asset
  • Excellent analytical, synthesis, and writing skills
  • Critical thinking
  • Good organizational skills, sense of responsibility, autonomy in work
  • Team player with excellent interpersonal communication skills
