Job Description:

We are looking for a passionate, talented, and inventive Applied Scientist to develop industry-leading Generative Artificial Intelligence (GenAI) technology with Large Language Models (LLMs). In this role, you will innovate in the fastest-moving fields of current AI research, particularly developing state-of-the-art foundation models capable of processing a broad range of prompts and information in many languages.

If you are deeply familiar with Large Language Model development, natural language processing, and machine learning, this may be the right opportunity for you. Our fast-paced environment requires a high degree of independence in decision-making and driving ambitious research agendas to production. You will collaborate with science and engineering teams across AGI and business stakeholders to maximize the impact of your contributions.

Key job responsibilities:

1. Design and execute experiments to evaluate the performance of post-training algorithms and data, iterating quickly to improve results.
2. Build solutions that address customer needs, balancing accuracy, efficiency, and user experience.
3. Develop novel algorithms or modeling techniques to advance the state of the art with LLMs.

About the team:

The AGI team aims to push the boundaries in LLMs and multimodal systems to provide the best experience for customers.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

• PhD, or a Master's degree with experience in CS, CE, ML, or related fields.
• Experience designing experiments and performing statistical analysis.
• Programming experience in Java, C++, Python, or related languages.
• Experience with deep learning and/or machine learning, especially post-training techniques for LLMs (SFT, DPO, PPO), and natural language processing.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• Experience with Unix/Linux.
• Patents or publications in top-tier peer-reviewed conferences or journals.
• Experience with deep learning frameworks like MxNet and TensorFlow.
• Professional software development experience.
• Building machine learning models or algorithms for business applications.
• Hands-on experience in training and evaluating LLMs.
