You will be based in one of our European offices as part of McKinsey's Transformation Practice. There is flexibility in the location of this role, ideally within a major metropolitan area. MT is hiring for VPs focused on turnarounds and transformations across multiple global offices.

MT, founded in 2010, is a unit of McKinsey that specializes in holistic transformations and corporate restructuring. We assist clients in achieving rapid performance improvements and support companies facing liquidity issues or insolvency. Our team combines experienced professionals from industry, private equity, and restructuring sectors with McKinsey's global network of experts. We work closely with clients to execute strategies for extraordinary performance improvements, serving in roles that often involve interim management and transformation leadership.

MT has two service lines: Turnarounds & Transformations (T&T) and Corporate Restructuring (CR). The T&T line focuses on driving rapid performance improvements in businesses with significant potential, while CR handles complex restructuring programs for companies facing performance and liquidity issues.

Your role will involve serving clients as an Engagement Manager (EM), leading turnaround and transformation efforts. You will manage teams, develop strategic and operational levers, and ensure the application of McKinsey’s proprietary methodologies. Your responsibilities include overseeing large-scale turnarounds, influencing clients, and sometimes playing an interim management role.

Key responsibilities include:

  1. Leading phases of client engagements, including diligence, analysis, and implementation.
  2. Managing teams of consultants focused on transformation projects.
  3. Applying a holistic approach leveraging cost, revenue, strategy, organization, and capital levers.
  4. Driving rapid, measurable results and ensuring sustainable value creation.
  5. Utilizing McKinsey’s tools, benchmarks, and methodologies to deliver impact.
  6. Displaying leadership through various styles, maintaining resilience, and managing ambiguity.

Qualifications include:

  • Bachelor's degree; master's degree or MBA preferred.
  • Experience in management consulting, investment banking, or professional services.
  • Experience managing teams through operational turnarounds with P&L accountability.
  • Proven ability to drive operational improvements and growth programs.
  • Strong financial and operational expertise, including business modeling and working capital management.
  • Excellent problem-solving and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Effective communication skills in English and the local language.
